ds2 was given a megasketcher thing for Christmas - one of the drawing bits has gone missing - I keep having frantic banshee searching moments. I think it's because the gift was bought by a friend rather than us.

Aggggrrrhhh

Dd got one too, they're good aren't they? But I was immediately resigned to the stamping bits going missing - at least the pen is attached. I think you need to stop the banshee searching, they'll turn up !

moondog · 28/12/2005 21:20

Oh Ii confiscate all toys that have more than three or four parts.
Have a pristine Mousetrap and Buckaroo which will never see the outside of the box...

charlietherednosedpussy · 28/12/2005 21:21

you need to comment on my thread

Caligyulea · 28/12/2005 21:22

Oh don't bother. It will go missing again as soon as you find it.

DS has one of those, and he never used the bits anyway, just the pen. (Mind you, that might be because the bit immediately went missing as it's not tied to the main bit the way the pen is.)

Your friend won't know it's gone forever - and after 3 months it will be acceptable that it's gone forever. Or she'll take the hint and buy toys that don't have lots of parts to go missing!

puff · 28/12/2005 21:28

lol

I don't normally do anally retentive , but its been getting to me.

We have yet to build ds1's pirate ship which has about a trillion small parts to it!

OP posts:
WideWebWitch · 28/12/2005 21:29

Moondog, you need to keep those two in the boxes, they are tedious beyond belief! I HATE Mousetrap...

moondog · 28/12/2005 21:29

God,if one of my kids got a pirate ship,I would slump into a deep deep depression....

WideWebWitch · 28/12/2005 21:30

And I don't know if you're familiar with Bionicles but the minute 1 part is lost I say 'oh dear, it won't be buildable now, I'm chucking it out' and sling it.

puff · 28/12/2005 21:30

lol moondog, I think I may be on the brink of doing so

OP posts:
moondog · 28/12/2005 21:30

lol www. Yes,saw how it lasted for oooh all of 30 minutes in my sister's house with her four.
Charlie, would comment on your thread, but as you see,no need...

WideWebWitch · 28/12/2005 21:30

I'd 'lose' the pirate ship pdq...

Caligyulea · 28/12/2005 21:31

I did a 100 piece jigsaw today. And still have all 100 parts.

harpsichordcarrier · 28/12/2005 21:33

yer all saaaaaad
i have a friend like this and I have hidden parts of toys to see her get all twitchy
she once sweated for ages over a missing oil barrel
well she's not a friend as such...

moondog · 28/12/2005 21:33

Few books, some wooden building blocks and a ball is plenty imho.

puff · 28/12/2005 21:33

lol

I was like this when I was teaching.

If a piece of jigsaw went missing - a note stayed on the board until it was found - the record was 2 terms.

Anchovy · 28/12/2005 21:33

Ah, actually the trillion small bits things are the best (I imagine you are talking playmobil here). Playmobil has so many bits that you can happily lose about 6 million before anyone actually notices. When DS asks where the grappling hook is, we just give him the axe or something similar and they all fit together anyway (in fact one of our knights has the policeman's gun, in a sort of brutal yet sophisticated version of paper-scissors-stone).

I did find one of the small missing playmobil pieces in DD's nappy

puff · 28/12/2005 21:35

No moondog - a couple of pans and wooden spoons is more than adequate. And if anyone has a sore tooth it gets tied to a door and yanked out on the door being slammed .

ItllBeLonelymumThisChristmas · 28/12/2005 21:36

Do what I do: have a biggish box solely for the purpose of holding odd parts of toys, and every so often, empty the box out and see what whole toys you can reassign to their rightful place.

Do you really throw out bionicles with one part missing? That is crazy!

moondog · 28/12/2005 21:36

lol at Chapman bros style Playmobil (it is they who do all that weird brutal stuff isn't it?)

Puff,I would have locked the doors and roared 'Noone leaves until that piece is found!' It's what the boss used to do when I worked as a cashier in the Town Hall years ago (And what a thrilling job that was...)

hunkermunker · 28/12/2005 21:38

HC, PMSL at manner of taunting of not-really-a-friend We really were separated at birth

puff · 28/12/2005 21:38

lol moondog

If I could have got away with it, there would have been no lunch til this missing piece was discovered

OP posts:
harpsichordcarrier · 28/12/2005 21:40

I only strike if they show weakness
bet you lot all get upset if the cd's get out of the right cases too

puff · 28/12/2005 21:41

Oh yes harpsichord, there are a couple of Postman Pat videos without cases and I still wake up in a cold sweat 6 months on

OP posts:
moondog · 28/12/2005 21:41

Ooh when I'm pissed,cd cases go everywhere.
Came down this morning to a veritable art installation of dirty Champagne glasses, burnt down candles and silvery discs.....

harpsichordcarrier · 28/12/2005 21:43

do you remember that cd's were marketed when they first came out as being indestructable, that you could use them as coasters etc. what a big fat lie. and god knows I have tried...
