compared to dd2 (3)

she currently has:

cd player
books
recorder

it is her birthday on the 20th when she is getting:
marble run
watch
tamagotchi

What are you getting your 6 year old girl? I need to buy her some more 'fun' stuff.

What about some CD's for her CD player.

I have just bought DD Pop Party 3 and also essential hits and the new Disney songs effort.

Just make sure you make her play the music in her room as you may get tired of Cha Cha slide or the silly frog song, DING DING !!!!!!

Also what about a dance mat or some thing along those lines??

Claire Accessories for fun hairstuff
Disney Shop for Disney Princess knickers (funa nd practical! and the only character clothes I allow!)
Boots for Glitter Babies bubble bath and body glitter spray

foxinsocks · 16/12/2005 12:27

Cd books for her cd player (so she can listen/read)?

I'm getting dd a telescope (she wants to look at the stars/moon!)

In terms of fun stuff -

hama beads - you put beads on a board and then iron the design and they all stick together and make a little model/picture (though dd finds them a bit tough as you need good fine motor skills - most of her mates are a dab hand at them - v popular birthday pressies)

Barbie clothes/shoes
Electronic spinning top
walky talkies
magic sand

KateF · 16/12/2005 12:48

dd1 is 6 and is getting a scooter, a (hideous) Bratz doll, books, crafty stuff like hama beads and card making bits, barbie outfits.......

When the DDs were around this age we had a toy Post Officen (lots of little forms to fill in and sticky stamps) and toy sweetshop (little jars, actual sweets) which were very popular. Do they still make them I wonder?

Janh · 17/12/2005 10:50

Post Office

Janh · 17/12/2005 10:53

Sweet shop is pick & mix now and looks to have a lot of highly coloured sticky sweeties so maybe not such a good idea!

OLittleTownOfBensmummy · 17/12/2005 20:01

If she likes horses, the sophie books (by DKS I think) are an excellent present.

PrincessPlumPuddingHead · 17/12/2005 20:07

Enid, I got this fantastic pony for my 6yo dd last christmas in desperation and it was the MOST successful thing. It is big enough to sit on and pretend to ride, and now that she is 7.5 she STILL covers it with a blanket every night so it doesn't get cold....!
My 2 yo loves it too, it will be v popular with everyone. My dd's face when she opened the ENORMOUS box it came in is something I will never forget. It literally lit up!

You have until tues to order from john lewis for delivery before xmas!

Enideepmidwinter · 17/12/2005 20:31

O.M.G

Wilkos have a very similar thing, except it is a unicorn. Think it is £35 or £39.

Enideepmidwinter · 17/12/2005 20:43

arrgh and it was half price on toys r us but is again out of stock

OP posts:
Enideepmidwinter · 17/12/2005 20:57

aargh does that mean I will have to go to wilkinsons

OP posts:
Janh · 17/12/2005 21:04

No!

Doesn't say how big it is but for £20 from Wilkos it must be pretty big

NutcrackingXmas · 17/12/2005 21:06

They are quite big, I had to chuck it over my shoulder to carry it.

The pink unicorn is really lovely, but more.

Janh · 17/12/2005 21:09

Ah - the one I found is not a pink unicorn, is it

Very ponyish though. I would rather have the pony than the unicorn meself but then I'm not a 6-yr-old...

Enideepmidwinter · 17/12/2005 21:18

oh blast

will have to set foot in there tomorrow with the panicking masses

give me strength

OP posts:
PrincessPlumPuddingHead · 17/12/2005 22:14

Oh poo enid, when I posted the link there were 2 left!
There are quite a few in our local toys r us, or there were at the beginning of the week. You may have more luck in the shop than online if you know what I mean.

She REALLY loves it

Stilltrue · 17/12/2005 23:09

A stocking filler maybe, but M&s have some little puzzles which look quite fun. if you are near a Science Museum outlet or have the catalogue, what about their "Rainbow Maker", a type of prism toy to put on the window an dliterally make rainbows.

Enideepmidwinter · 19/12/2005 08:11

found the unicorn in wilkinsons yesterday and stood looking at it for ages

there is no doubt that dd1 would LOVE it and it would make a very impressive present

but thoughts of what dh would say kept running through my head (also thoughts of lugging it through the town alone ) so I didnt get it.

I regret it now so might go back in this am and see if it is still there...

(btw the pony on the website is tiny. the unicorn is the size of a shetland)

pabla · 19/12/2005 09:33

Hamleys had those ponys recently - saw one at an airport store - definitely big enough to sit on. Try their website?
