Anyone got one. Any annoying things about them?

My DH had one for a weekend as a rental for work.

He said it was the worst car he had ever driven. It was a sludgy brown colour and looked like a turd on wheels. It felt very plasticky and tinny inside.

I doubt that's helped you much. Please tell me you haven't just bought one!

ColdSancerre · 24/09/2011 22:11

My mum and dad had one, liked being able to get in and out easily due to height, hated handling as awful around twisty corners. Someone pulled out on mum when she was doing 50-60 and she was fine (car was write off) so I assume safety wise it is good.

EmmalinaC · 24/09/2011 22:35

No more space than an ordinary hatchback but much less dynamic (ie. horrid to drive). Disclaimer: this from my husband, a former road-tester.

tallulah · 24/09/2011 22:41

DH has one and is always moaning about it. His is the red Special Edition one (he didn't realise when he bought it). The tyres are horrendously expensive, and the insurance is as much as my Chrysler, even though it's about 8 IGs different. It always feels underpowered but once going along will go at a reasonable speed.

On the plus side it does really well on fuel Grin

dyzzidi · 24/09/2011 22:44

OK I like them. Room for three adults in the back, good boot space for size of car, good on fuel.

saffycat · 24/09/2011 22:50

We have had one for three years. We love it. I find it enjoyable to drive, powerful enough, roomier that the average hatchback. Has good boot space, excellent fuel economy - have the diesel version ave 55-62 mpg. Our only issue with it is that the heater and air-con are poor.

LordOfTheFlies · 25/09/2011 19:54

I'm picking mine up on Wednesday (fingers crossed) just waiting for the paperwork.
I had one as a courtesy car when they were first launched and I was a bit meh but I've had a test-drive and taken 'mine' out for a spin.
It's not the most dynamic car in the world but it ticks the boxes in the safety/reliability/economy stakes.
Bought it to replace my Almera.

Sidge I liked the 'turd on wheels' Grin colour (latte) but I've got silver.

Honest John gives the Note a good review.

Stamps foot impatiently and wills log-book a quick journey.

And the boot is comparable to the Almera and cavernous compared to my 2005 Micra

Ah fair play to you, hope you enjoy your new car!

I suppose it depends on what you're used to and what you need it for. DH does a fair bit of distance driving so needs something comfy and with a bit of oomph, which he said the Note wasn't. But I imagine for around town it would be fine.

LostInTransmogrification · 25/09/2011 20:10

I love mine! It's a good ride round town and poky enough for the motorway, it has enough room in the back seat for 6 foot plus adults to sit in comfort, the boot has handy 'boards' you can use to separate bits of it off and you can use the glove compartment as a cool box when the aircon is on. I would happily get another one.

LordOfTheFlies · 30/09/2011 22:56

Yay- I've had my Note (weird name but I'll let it pass) for 2 days. It's a bit of a change from my 1.8 automatic (the Note is 1.4 manual).

There is much more legroom for the DCs, and it feels like a much smaller car to drive because the bonnet is smaller, though the car body size is similar.

Looking forward to spending less on petrol.(And road-tax)

The car is going for it's first trip round the worlds biggest car-park -aka the M25- tommorrow.Grin

I've just bought one of these, pick it up on Monday.

I took it for a test drive, loved the smoothness of it,mine's a 1.6 auto,i'm used to a deisel manual but up for a change Grin.

What sold it for me was the expensive looking interior, part leather seats, the 6 cd changer, climate control, electric folding mirrors, rain sensitive wipers and all the cubby holes/storage areas,so important when you have kids.

A good sized boot too, will update when i've owned it for a few weeks, hopefully all good.

LordOfTheFlies · 28/10/2011 01:43

Ooooh privatename you must've gone for the Top Range one with the leather seats. (Mine is next one down)

I am amazed how little petrol mine uses compared to the Almera. They did have a diesel but I don't do enough miles to make the extra £ worthwhile .(But I think Road Tax is £35 which is nice).

Managed to get a huge guinea-pig cage in the back seat last week -and shopping in the boot. Well chuffed.

Hi Lord, yes,i bought the sve,it's 1.6 petrol automatic,my old car was a peugeot 1.4 deisel, manual,i'm already noticing that my fuel doesn't go very far in the note,my peugeot would go for miles and miles!! tax was £160 for the year,my old car was £30!!

But,on the plus side,i feel i have a safe car to drive my kids around in now,my old car had 138,000 miles on the clock and i was spending alot getting things fixed.
