Thomas train track set or play kitchen? They're about the same price. He likes both cooking and trains!

I personally would go for the thomas tomica world train set, my ds has this and the wooden one and no longer plays with the wooden one - he is nearly 6, but has had the tomica one for about 3 years now. He still loves it so much we have bought him the suspension bridge and station this year. The beauty is you can keep adding to it

I would go for a train but not the thomas ones, my ds has 2 thomas train tracks and never plays with them as he needs me to keep building them, he has a wooden track and loves it because he can build it himself and he loves to make his own shaped tracks.

you are being sidetracked heree!

Mum2OneAndBump · 15/12/2005 17:54

saying that my ds is a very very independant child & does not like me to do anything for him he loves to do it all himself

I bought a generic table and starter set and then we have added a few Thomas bits - a couple of trains and some risers. It makes future Christmas presents easy for relatives as each piece comes with a catalogue that you can tick off what he has and then give to them.

Bob loves getting new track most of all, he gets very excited about points.

I'd go for brio or similar then. wooden trains are pricey but they really last. ds (and dd) are playing with my brio tracks (themselves handed down from a cousin-and probably handed down before this).

you can get brio compatible thomas. if your ds is anything like mine he'd prefer this.

have just ordered the complete ivor the engine from ebay!

merglemergle · 15/12/2005 18:12

mum2one-my ds is exactly the same. he gets angry if i so much as peel a banana for him! I wouldn't dream of making a train track for him.

LIZS · 15/12/2005 18:18

train set , every time. ds had a basic My First Thomas set until he was bought a basic wooden set from tesco as a gift and has added to that oen ever since - not a Thomas in sight !

Auntybrandybutter · 16/12/2005 05:35

Asda do a basic wooden set for £10 get this and a little bit of play food and pots and pans. Woolworths had kettle, etc think with kitchen for £24
So you could have both see whih he likes best and add to that for his Birthday!
