We tried one on holiday and DH liked them but are they rubbish compared to other coffee makers and are the capsule things expensive?

All advice gratefully received! Brew

We had one with the Aerocino (like Smartypants linked to) first but I was not a great fan of the Aerocino.

Maybe it has improved, but we had to be very careful not to do too much hot milk at once, without cooling the Aerocino down properly, as the milk burned onto the bottom of the Aerocino.

Give them their due, they twice exchanged the Aerocino when we complained about the teflon coating being damaged.

The Latissimo is by far the better machine. Fully automatic, you just switch it on and it makes cappuccino. You can take the milk jug off and put it in the fridge.

I think they are truly fabulous, and if you think how much you spend (and often waste) on ground coffee the capsules are not that expensive. You can often buy one with an aerocino milk frother attached which is also rather great.

I gave up caffiene and now have a citiz gathering dust under my sink - open to offers..

I agree that the coffee is excellent. BUT if you are ethically inclined, as well as the Nestle baby milk saga, the aluminium waste from each pod is considerable as most people seem to just chuck them in the bin.

verysmellyeli · 30/09/2011 20:20

Silverbells you can now recycle the pods - nespresso send you a bag and then arrange for collection when you order the next lot of capsules. You can also buy refillable reusable capsules but I haven't tried those! But you're right about the baby milk thing - can't justify that, I'm afraid....
