Help! Figures for a wooden castle?

My mum told me today that she has bought my ds1 (4.5) a wooden castle from Habitat. (who knew they even did toys???) He has never shown any interest in castles, but she has a total spending addiction and seems to think he won't be happy until he has the entire contents of the toy shop - grrrr! Anyway, it does not come with any figures and she wants me to find some good quality - preferably wooden - ones. I have no idea where to get some. I looled at ELC and they had some figures, but not wooden. And there were so many different ones. How few can we get away with?

Thanks!

I think the ones in ELC are lovely and I would get those.

agree .. elc lovely and nice range with dragons and monsters and kings and queens .. think wooden figures may be more likely to chip so not a great idea

buy a set to begin with and see whether he likes them / wants more

are they papo they are nice

coribells · 13/12/2005 19:13

I have bought DS a wooden castle for Christmas, the figures that come from the same company are not wooden but are of good quality. ELC ones look good too.

Another vote for the ELC plastic ones - they really are nice. And not so nasty as wood if younger children end up chewing them!

LadySherlockofLGJ · 13/12/2005 19:15

Do not I repeat not use ELC online.

IlanaK · 13/12/2005 19:20

Well, that would be problematic as there is no ELC in central london where I live. It would have to be online. I was looking at Mail Order Express as I was about to order some Hama beads from them. They have loads of different ones, but I have no idea which are good. LInk here is anyone is willing to look for me!

mail order express and type in nights in the search box.

coribells · 13/12/2005 19:24

NO ELC in central london? Where do you live? they are everywhere.

zippimistletoes · 13/12/2005 19:29

they are papo lots of them online

WigWamBam · 13/12/2005 19:41

I'm with LGJ ... don't use ELC online, whatever you do.

I got some lovely old fashioned wooden ones from JessicaandRebeccasmummy, her uncle makes them for craft fairs and he made some for me. Might be worth a shot, although you'd probably not get them for Christmas now.

Roisin was kind enough to point me to Tridias and Letterbox both of which have great figures for castles.

Isn't there an elc branch on the Kings Road, also within Daisy and Tom's, at High street Kensington and in Hammersmith ? Look here . Also there used to be one in Debenhams Oxford Street but this may have closed in the summer. Otherwise try John Lewis.

The Papo figures are really nice, you can get them in some toy shops and I believe mail order express do them
