Can babies turn over in a sleeping bag?

Do sleeping bags stop babies from turning over at night? Do they get frustrated when they can't move about? My dd had a Grobag till she was 9 months old but once she started turning over I was worried it would hamper her movements too much. Now she turns over all the time and keeps throwing off her bedclothes and as her room is quite chilly at night I would like to put her in a bag again but am worried she will feel too constrained. Hope this makes sense. Any advice?

Short answer - yes they can roll over, crawl around, stand up....some even known to climb out of cot with sleeping bag on! My ds is 23 months and still very happy in his - he is a very restless sleeper.

what about putting her in an all-in-one sleep suit? that will protect her from the cold without hampering her too much.

agree - dd is a little caterpillar, but never gets cold!

Oh Yes. Ds is 18 months and such a wriggly bum at bed time, it doesn't restrict him in any way at all.

yes 7 months

Yup - dd rolls, turns around, and is found standing in her cot every morning in her grobag (she's 15 months, but has been standing etc in her sleeping bag since well under a year). Can't imagine not using a sleeping bag to be honest as she would never stay under the bedclothes and her room is freezing.

Yep - dd (17m) can roll, stand, get off our bed and walk into bathroom to watch Mummy shower.

Don't think I'd worry about it debster. I am planning on putting DS back in a sleeping bag tonight and he is nearly 3. But will not keep covered up and then just cries rather than pulling the covers up. Wish me luck in persuading him.

Oh thanks everyone. That has really set my mind at rest. Will buy one straightaway! I love babies in sleeping bags. They look so cute.

debster (think our babies are the same age? 1?) I worried about this for a while, but then witnessed dd2 rolling around like a dervish in her sleeping bag. So go for it!

Hi Enid - I remember both of us posting on the babies due in September/October thread. How are things with you and baby? My dd still can't crawl or walk or anything. She just likes to stretch herself as far as she can go (almost doing the splits in the process) to get things. I'm not too worried yet but it is getting quite hard having to carry her around as she's on the 75th centile for weight and height! Bit of a chubster for debster

Am off to look at the Grobag website now for some groovy patterns.
