am I right in thinking they may not now be able to send out their orders ..

there are so many companies (just heard a list on the radio and that was just the big ones it must be a disaster for all the small ones) with their warehouses there

I am assuming that those who work in the area will continue to be paid although unable to go to work, please correct me if I'm wrong as otherwise this post is even more selfish than intended

if stock is smoke damaged then they m,ay not be able to fulfill orders.

i am more worried about the pollution aspect in the county, my dd1 was struggling to breath last night, (she is asthmatic and had extra doses of ventolin during the night).

Once the fire is out I wonder how long it will take for the air quality to improve, there will obviously be a lot of particular matter settled over a wide area..

I haven't seen the news coverage only heard it on the radio..

I agree the pollution and health consequences are much more important

I hope dd1 improves over the next 24 hours, although it doesn't seem likely the fire will be out until tomorrow

You could see the smoke plume from here, but not my house, just across the corner. So it will affect the air here. It was scary.

i posted about asos last night shit myself when i seen heading for this post thought it was refering to me posting about asos... phew glad to know it wasnt!!

throckenholt · 12/12/2005 09:30

not good timing - there is high pressure forecast for the uk for the next week - so the air will not be stirred up and dispersed very well.

misdee · 12/12/2005 09:30

i hope they can fulfil orders but i dont think anyone will be allowed in the area for quite some time.

what are you waiting for? you could be offered refunds and be able to get the stuff elsewhere.

zippimistletoes · 12/12/2005 09:31

just listening to the press conference on the radio, the process of putting out the fire is very complex..fears for the water table being polluted

I bought my dd the dress for her main present from them and my ds his main present a shirt!

unless they've been sent (which seems unlikely although I did order on 7 Dec)they definitely won't come

just I was quite excited about the dress as i thought i'd found a "wow" present I could afford!

but it is insignificant in the scheme of things

how old are they? will they understand the implications of the explosions?

zippimistletoes · 12/12/2005 10:15

o yes

they were surprise presents..
it's the first year I've done all my xmas shopping on the net and never bought clothes before!

It was that roland somebody designer look a like dress for dd1 ..no idea what to get instead!

I suppose there is a faint possibility it was sent oput already but I would have had it already then i think, i don't know how they send by courier i assume!

They are saying they will be refunding orders made on or after 7th dec by 16th. Good luck with finding a replacement.
