I want it to be fleece lined, but I also want it to be the longer length ones that are knee length or just above knee length.

Any ideas?

Something similar to this but preferably not pink or purple!!

I got the Togz warm and dry jacket for ds2 and it's fairly long on him (although I did buy it big). Very well made jacket too, I'm v.pleased with it esp the adjustable hood and high fleece-lined collar. If you look at this page you can see a pic of a boy wearing it and how long it is. Haven't seen any a-line type jackets for boys in my (long) travels to find one for him. The longer types are usually parka style.

accessorizequeen · 03/09/2011 09:05

Or come to think of it the Hatley ones are fairly long and lined although not with fleece. And I found this raindrops one too which is quite long although it's hard to tell without a pic on a kid.

wonkylegs · 03/09/2011 09:11

Here is the boys version of the pink one ... welliesandworms.co.uk/kozikidz-rainbow-varberg-waterproof-fleece-lined-rain-jacket.html

You might want to look at the KoziKids website www.kozikidz.co.uk/rainwear.html%23fleece for their list of stockists

wonkylegs · 03/09/2011 09:19

We got this one www.heykids.co.uk/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=23_1&products_id=104 it's not fleece lined but has allowed us the flexibility of wearing with or without a fleece to cope with the warm but wet summer.... And DS loves it

PotatoesOfTheCarribean · 03/09/2011 09:24

DS has one from mountain warehouse. It's brilliant and was only £10

I quite like the Togz warm and dry one, will have to see if i can get it a bit cheaper.

The raindrops one is a bit boring in colour - want something a bit more interesting for out of school.

The Kozi Kids stripy one is a rain jacket as opposed to a rain coat so isn't the same length as the girl's one.

The frog one is the right length but I prefer PU over PVC.

The only mountain warehouse one I can see with a just above the knee length is the Kazar one but I can't see it in any boy's colours?

what age?
what about all-in-one suits if you want more coverage?

thisisyesterday · 04/09/2011 12:21

jako-o usually really good quality stuff

accessorizequeen · 04/09/2011 12:47

I think the Cute Age were doing it a bit cheaper (the Togz) with free p&p but didn't notice until I had already ordered. Would have got it in red but ds doesn't really suit red.

going · 04/09/2011 12:51

TK Maxx has this jacket for £15. It's fleece lined and very comfy. My ds is three and the 3-4 jacket covers his bum.

nappyaddict · 05/09/2011 11:51

I like the Jako-o one but 47 pounds is a bit too much for me to spend.

I've seen the Togz one for 37.99 in red and age 6-7 which is still a bit steep for me. The red one in 6-7 is discontinued on That Cute Age for some reason.

didriksons - another of the brilliant swedish comps. they know their cold and wet weather...

accessorizequeen · 05/09/2011 12:29

What about a regatta raincoat with zip in fleece? I got one for ds1 who's 7 and it's very colourful. Was about £20 posted so more affordable.

Popbiscuit · 05/09/2011 12:30

Lands End has great outerwear for kids and you can order it all online.

nappyaddict · 05/09/2011 12:50

Where did you get that from accessorize?

OP posts:
nappyaddict · 05/09/2011 16:21

mousymouse They are nice but again quite expensive at 52.50

I've been lurking on this thread also in need of a practical raincoat

I'm Shock at the cost if every one I've seen. Since when did a small Childs coat cost £50+?

Everything's got so expensive Sad

nancy75 · 05/09/2011 16:25

www.trotters.co.uk/p-434-rainmac.aspx dd has this and it is very good, and not a bad price.

nappyaddict · 05/09/2011 16:29

I like that nancy Could you post a pic of your DD wearing it on your profile so I could see the length? You can delete them afterwards.

OP posts:
nancy75 · 05/09/2011 16:36

i don't have any pics with her in it, but the length is just about on her knee.
I'm not sure what colour you would want, but I noticed on the website the lining for the blue one is gingham, dd has a blue one for school and the lining is more of a dark red tartan, which would be fine for a boy ( i was in the shop last week and they had both colour linings). If you live near london the website I linked to has a shop in The Kings Road

accessorizequeen · 05/09/2011 20:32

I got the regatta at Trek Wear I think, it's a top speed one. Ds1 wanted one like that so I obliged! Its not super long though like the Togz and btw the sizing is huge. Ds2 is nearly 5 and the 5-6 is enormous on him, he persuaded me to keep it! He's a tall boy too.

accessorizequeen · 05/09/2011 20:54

And I think if you want functional boys waterproof coat you can easily get one for under £20 - most of the camping-type shops do the main brands e.g. Trespass, Mountain Warehouse, Regatta, Togz. You certainly don't have to pay £50 if you don't want to, I've generally bought decent ones for under £20 for my 4 dc. Or buy the really good brands secondhand, which I did for DD this year with a Boden snowboarding jacket for £10 off a MNetter (btw, Nappy Addict Snowboarding jackets are often fleece-lined at least the Boden & Gap ones are and fairly long compared to other coats). Plus there is often 20%+ off at various places like LandsEnd if you look out, they had one just last month.

The thing I'll say about paying the higher prices is that the zips often don't last on the cheaper coats and then you can't find a replacement when you really need one or it will drive you bonkers when you're doing the school run (speaking from experience when a Next one died on me...)

nappyaddict · 06/09/2011 01:06

Do you know what the Regatta one is called? My friend recommended a Regatta 3 in 1 trackway.

nancy (sorry-v odd typing that!)- the raincoat you linked- are they the rubberised type? (they look like proper raincoats)

nancy75 · 06/09/2011 16:25

hi Captain Nancy - yes it is kind of rubbery, DD weras it for school when its not cold enough for a proper coat, and it does keep the water out.
