Where does trousers for slender toddlers?

DS has a ridiculously small middle - he's 20mo, but 12-18m trousers fall down, so he's in 9-12m onces, but they're getting a bit short (obviously!). Where can I buy slim-fitting 12-18m trousers (I can't imagine he'll need 18-24m ones for a year yet - he's had one pair of trousers that have fitted him since last Christmas!)? I've found Next to be quite slim-fitting, but even those are too loose for my slim jim!

A stretchy belt from H&M has changed my life, I have to say. They can just push it down when going to the loo as well. Have one for both Inferiorettes.

A relative bought dd some trousers from Lucie & Oscar which were very slim fitting (no idea how much they cost though) ditto NafNaf.

French clothes are generally slim fitting but can be a bit pricey (but not in France!)

Also try Petit Bateau; lovely colours, slim fitting with adjustable waists, but expensive. Wait for the sale.
I have 4 slim children so I know the problem!

French children seem to be slimmer, so I find their stuff fits our skinny children much better - La Redoute and Vertbaudet, look for the ones with adjustable waistbands, but agree elasticated belts are a godsend For older ones, I've found that Woolworths do the slimmest school uniform skirts for girls.

We have the same problem with DD. She's nearly 5 - skinny waist and long legs, so trousers either fit her lengthwise and are too big round the waist, or fit round her waist but are way too short.

Find it totally depends on the fit of the trousers / skirt though - we generally just take armfuls of trousers into changing rooms and try them on now (I get her to jump up and down a lot to see if the trousers fall down!!! )

If I buy her things when she's not with me, I then have to ask my mum to try and alter them (as I'm no good at sewing!!!)

Primark had lovely cord trousers with an adjustable waist last year. Don't know if they still do them. Most Next trousers now seem to have an adjustable waist.

Once had a very embarassing experience in NEXT where her trousers fell down 'cos I'd been in such a hurry to get out of the house I'd forgotten to put a belt on her jeans!!! Have never done it again!! The poor girl was mortified!!!

Have the same problem with my skinny toddler, Gap are the best ones. Apart from a pair a friend sent me from Ireland, which fitted in the waist and the leg ..... at the same time!!! My aunt sends me trousers for them from America, I don't even bother to put them on as they're too short and to big around the waist
After reading this I will try Pumpkin Patch and Vertbaudet, I'm dreading potty training him, his trousers will fall straight down without a nappy
