But I would like to know where I can buy a good selection of stocking fillers for my two dds. I guess my max spend is about £20 per stocking (not much I know) and obviously I want to get as much for my money as possible! Where should I go?

H&M - got hair slides, bobbles, and all manner of girly stuff for my DDs - oh and Accesorize for that type of stuff too.

nailpolish · 05/12/2005 13:08

i would go to elc, as they have millions of stocking fillers like mini puzzles, musical instruments etc for pennies

SueW · 05/12/2005 13:08

You could try Hawkins Bazaar (google it). They do lots of cheap bits, or a stocking for about 15 quid which has pressies to more than the value of that.

nailpolish · 05/12/2005 13:09

oh yes forgot about h&m - brilliant for girlie girls

crimbocrazydazy · 05/12/2005 13:09

BHS are doing lots of good stocking fillers this year, went and bought a load yesterday for our kiddies

MIstletAOU · 05/12/2005 13:14

Have one girly girl and one very un-girly girl. Thanks for the suggestions, how about fillers that are big (ish) on size and small on budget? Any ideas?

They are 8 and 7, btw.

Asda, Wilkos and Woolworths have little craft packs of sequins, beads, shiny bits, hearts, glitter etc pretty cheap. I got a few of those recently.

Hair stuff, bubble baths, bath paints/tints, character tights/vest/pants, etc.

Mum2Ela · 05/12/2005 13:15

Ikea do nice paints, paper and brushes, and little finger puppets etc.

3 for 2 at boots is always good. (ditto m&s)

oooh bubble bath, thats a good idea. They will be getting pants/socks in there too, and I always put a christmas tree decoration in as well. I'm hopefully going to travel up to Inverness next week or so, so I want to be really organised and know where to go for what, hence the rather picky question!!

binkie · 05/12/2005 13:19

Baker Ross - same kind of stuff as elsewhere but more of it & cheaper.

MIstletAOU · 05/12/2005 13:19

OOh that's good lockets, there is a HUUUUGE tesco in Inverness.

Another vote for Tesco. I'm going there to get our Stocking fillers, they are very cheap, but good quality and our store at least has a really good selection.

ENIDeepMidwinter · 05/12/2005 13:20

I always do those little body shop bottles of bubbles or bath bombs, hair clips, this year am doing good quality plastic unicorn and fairy figures, invisible ink pen (2.99, woollies), top trumps, Lindt choc raindeer

ENIDeepMidwinter · 05/12/2005 13:20

have also got a skipping rope (£2)

ItllBeLonelymumThisChristmas · 05/12/2005 13:23

I always get mine a pad of plain drawing paper and some sort of pencils/pens each for their stcokings. The pad of paper, particularly, takes up a lot of room and is relatively cheap to buy.

One little recommendation for you: I once bought dd Tesco's own value felt tips as she is always ;eaving the lids off the pens and they go dry and have to be thrown away. Much to my astonishment, the Tesco value pens are still going strong. Even with the lids off they don't dry up. I think it is 79p for 30 pens.

Though NB I should imagine they are not washable so maybe not suitable for younger children.

MIstletAOU · 05/12/2005 13:25

Yes paper is a good idea Lonelymum. My two contribute to deforestation singlehandedly I think - they are both drawing mad.

I too am going with the Lindt choc reindeer, socks, pants, whacky t-shirt, box of....dinosaurs/sea creatures etc, bendy snakes/lizards, games in a tin, charades, storytelling etc, tin of paints, disposable camera, blow up globe.
A lot of this is geared up for our holiday on the 30/12, so travel things v much in mind.

TurkeyGang · 05/12/2005 13:44

Wilkinson's are good prices for toys.

Mercy · 05/12/2005 13:59

Is there a John Lewis near you? They have a 'pocket money toy' section which if I recall is quite good

MaddhurJaffrey · 05/12/2005 14:08

Dingdonghoneybunnyonhigh · 05/12/2005 14:13
