'All I want is a doll that I can play with her hair and change her clothes' - suggestions anyone?

Is there a non-barbie option? If not, as we are Barbie virgins, is their one Barbie (or Sindy) that is better than the others for a first timer?

There are lots of cheaper copies of Barbie. Or there are the horrible Brats dolls.

My dd is only 3 and not yet discovered Barbie - i have a strong dislike for anything "Barbie" and dread the day she asks for one.

You might consider Groovy Girls, can change their clothes (expensive tho) and sort of play with their hair, tho it will not stand up to heavy brushing lol.
Dearer than Barbie but much much nicer.

Here's a link to all the Groovy Girls , I like Yvette
Or how about the gorgeous Lily Doll I nearly bought her for dd last year but a present for me really!
(not seriously suggesting anyone spend £25 on a rag doll, but she is lovely)

socci I took so long to do that link you posted the same lol

Thanks ladies, and thanks for the links. I did have a look and am tempted, but not quite sure as I think (though I am resisting it) that what she really wants is a Barbie. Will have to do a little more detective work.

You can't fight Barbie, so you might as well give in gracefully. Dd's first Barbie (last Christmas, age nearly 3) was a very basic one, with a dress and some shoes which my Mum got from TK Maxx for a couple of quid. She was thrilled. This year dd has asked for a Barbie wheelchair- I think she got the idea from seeing an older child in a wheelchair in a shop (and thinking she's too old for a pushchair and doesn't have to walk about)and then exrapolated from that to the zenith of wheelchairs, which has to be a Barbie one . Needless to say, that idea has been soundly ignored- she's getting a Baby Born instead!

this one and this one tread the middle ground between baby anabelle and barbie - cost a fortune, but if it pushes back the barbie boundary you might think it's worth it...

We have Indian Barbie & she has beautiful long black luxurious hair with a little brush. She's wearing a dark green & gold sari & is nice without being too Barbie. My aunt bought it in India though I'm not sure if it's available here.
