Sylvanian Families experience anyone?

My dd (7) says she would like Sylvanian families and their 'stuff' for Christmas.
I've had a look on ebay and there's so much around I don't really know what to get her.
I'd be grateful for any pointers.
Thanks.

the nursery set or the caravan are both good value

spidermama · 04/12/2005 13:35

Thanks. What about the animals? The foxes look sweet.

I think argos has a good deal, buy the nursery for 29.99 and get a free set of babies

spidermama · 04/12/2005 14:00

Some of the used Sylvanian families stuff on ebay is actually going for more than its RRP. Crazy.
Argos are out of stock for most of it. Perhaps they have it in store, but not for online shopping.

I've just ordered some things online from the specialist shop in north London: Sylvanian Families . Seems efficient, though no indication of how long delivery'll take.

Dd's only just discovered these - had a family of white mice + their fantastically intricate tiny bedroom furniture for her b'day in Oct, and left a letter for Father Christmas "for crismas I wnat the sylvanian family mice babies love form [dd]". So that was easy.

Go with the foxes. They're all sweet, really. And I'm not generally keen on "sweet".

our local dept store also has a deal on atm

so worth checking locally

if you have an Entertainer near you they usually have a good range

FlameRobin · 04/12/2005 15:36

Try and find NDP - she's getting a load for Christmas for her little girl.

LIZS · 04/12/2005 15:45

There's quite a selection here

FlameRobin · 05/12/2005 10:36

bump for NDP

NomDePlumPudding · 05/12/2005 10:47

Thanks FR

I've got my DD a few bits for Christmas. Got them from the same site as Binkie got her stuff from. They've plenty in stock and deliver is FREE(even on big things like houses). Delivery is quick, within 7 days, and they are very competitively priced. I'd recommend them.

For DD I've got

The Lakeside Lodge house (£29.99 on that site, £49.99 on other sites if you find it, quite rare)
A bathroom furniture set
A Living room furniture set
A double bed and bedside table set
Bunk beds
The Grey Bear family
A kitchen range and sink set

All in all I think we've spent £90 on SF stuff (it soon mounts up), but I had it when I was a kid and it lasts well and you get a lot of play value out of it. In fact, my Mum still has most of it in her loft, which goes to show how well it lasts (lasted over 20 years, some of it !)!

My MIL was given a load of stuff from a friend when they moved (it was her teenage daughters stuff) and my kids LOVE it they play with it for hours. I think a house is a good start as then you have one place for everything

This looks great, but completely overwhelming. Where is the shop in north London?

spidermama · 06/12/2005 00:07

Thanks for the links. I've bought a pony and trap and a gypsy caravan plus a family of seven little dogs to hang out in it.

There's so much isn't there?

My plan is to see how she likes it and if she really gets into it we can add to her collection.

Thanks for all the responses.
