Megasketcher - do your kids play with them?

My DS is four and has seen the Thomas Megasketcher. It's on special offer (£12) in Woolies and I was thinking of getting it. Anyone else's kids play with them or are they a five minute wonder?

Dd has the ELC one and loves it, although has managed to loose half the little magnets that came with it.

they also save on paper and felt tip pens!

It's one of the few toys that ds1 (5) and ds2 (nearly 3) fight over. We bought it last Christmas and there's still no sign of the novelty wearing off.

Bought one today. Slight hitch in that DD (nearly 7) saw the pink Disney one and said she would LOVE one. I talked her out of it (says 3+ on the box) - I don't think she will play with it.

The plain ol' yellow Megasketcher is on offer for £8.74 in Woolworths too.

DD is 6 and still plays with hers and hasn't even lost the magnet shapes! She had it when she was 2 . Her little brother 1 1/2 has now discovered it -its the longest I've ever seen him sit and play with a toy on his own!

KBearthePolarBear · 04/12/2005 21:20

My DD had one when she was 3 but it broke after about an hour and I took it back, they didn't have any more so I got something else. Might give in and get it for her, soft touch that I am at Christmas!

freyasmum · 04/12/2005 22:06

My son got a megasketcher for his 3rd birthday 2 weeks ago and he loves it that much he takes it too bed with him evey night!!!! There is always a new drawing there. He still only scribbles but it's a great way for them to draw without the mess xxx

lunachic · 04/12/2005 22:10

yes of course i would be mean not to give it her they may look like scribbles but of course to her they are masterpieces

BadHair · 04/12/2005 22:30

Yes. Ds1 had it for his 4th birthday last year. He didn't really use it till he started school this year, and it's now in constant use for practising writing etc (from his own initiative). There's also constant squabbles over it with ds2, so much so that Father Christmas is bringing another one for ds2.

My 2 year old dd has one that cost under £4 from Tesco's and loves it. Great in the car although she does drop the magnets on the floor.
