Am rubbish at keeping an oven clean
never actually remember it needs to be cleaned inside

However, having had my beautiful new oven for a week today (aaaahh), I have made a solemn promise to myself that it would stay beautiful inside and outside (yawn)

so: outside is stainless steel: what works best there
inside is......whatever ovens' insides are made of: how do I keep the inside glass door and the rest clean? what works best for day to day maintenance?
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
I know it's boring

HELP!

You need a cleaner

An oven Bonne.

Can I ask you to translate something for me, btw, I just can't figure out the exact grammar? xxhijackxx

FrenchKissUnderMistletoeGirl · 02/12/2005 08:45

My Mum wipes hers round after everytime she uses it! Me - mines a right state. But if you use Oven Mate from Lakeland (literally the best, easiest and non smell oven cleaner in the world!) and an oven base liner, it' fairly simple and wipe up any spillages as you go.

FrenchKissUnderMistletoeGirl · 02/12/2005 09:00

mmm thought Lakeland might get a mention
have never ordered from them
should I really

prey what is an oven liner thingy?

Oven maid is nasty chemical but does the trick.

Outside - mild stainless steel cleaner should get it sparkly.

Furball · 02/12/2005 09:17

Yep - order from lakeland, you have never seen such an oven cleaner in your life and it really is odour free as well, It's almost like magic!

Here's the Oven Mate and

Here's the liner

gggimmesnowsnow · 02/12/2005 09:25

Ok - nothing at all to do with ovens. It is about that poor woman who had that face transplant, I can't figure out the exact sense of what they are saying....

"La femme de 38 ans qui a subi la première greffe partielle de visage a été mutilée par son chien qui aurait tenté de la réveille alors qu'elle était inconsciente à la suite d'une tentative de suicide, a fait savoir sa fille hier".

Poor poor woman - am I right in understanding that the dog bit her trying to rouse her after she had tried to commit suicide?

* total total hijack of oven cleaning thread*

jambuttie · 02/12/2005 09:25

mr muscle oven cleaner works for us

MrsSpoon · 02/12/2005 09:27

Another vote for Oven Mate.

tracyk · 02/12/2005 09:34

e-cloth for the outside. Very eco friendly and cleans everything! but I wouldn't waste it on the inside. Just tiles, mirrors, stainless steel etc.

zippimistletoes · 02/12/2005 09:35

yes that sounds like she was unconscious after attempting suicide

FrenchKissUnderMistletoeGirl · 02/12/2005 10:41

ggg, yes, you've got it, rather weird isn't it?

thanks for the advice everyone, think I will try Lakeland. I blame you all if I become sadly addicted to the site (not naming any names here Cod of course )

can't believe I have to order cleaning products online, how boring

I use Mr Muscle too, once every six months

I'm joking I am not that bad!!!

LUCYlastiKATEdchristmastocking · 02/12/2005 10:50

best thing for cleaning stainless steel is baby lotion, so i've been told.

JackieNoCribForABed · 02/12/2005 11:15

Lucy, thought it was baby oil rather than baby lotion, but I don't have any stainless steel appliances so don't take my word for it.

you need to get it professionally cleaned. And thereafter keep clean by wiping round with damp cloth after use when still warm. No nasty chemicals.
We use ovenclean
