Anyone tried new Baby Bjorn 'Active' Sling

I've been using the traditional Baby Bjorn sling, and it's been really pulling on my neck/back, and I was thinking it would be so much better if the weight could be transferred lower down, like a rucksack that clips around the waist. Then I saw the new BB active sling in a catalogue, and it's on Kiddicare. It looks perfect, but before I put in a request for Christmas, I just wondered if anyone had used it and what they thought - is it easier to carry? Is it easy to put on/take off?

I don't know about that but the WILKINET sling seems to win lots of the 'best buys' surveys. It does look very supportive for both mum & baby.

I can vouch for the wilkinet but haven't tried the other. It was very supportive - I have a history of back problems, so that was very important to me. It was also good for different sized people - my partner is taller than me, my mother is 'wider' than me, and my god-daughter aged 11 were all comfortable using it. One of the straps does go down around your waist, so the weight is quite balanced - most slings do seem to pull on the neck.

have no advice but the title made me laugh! I had a picture of a mam sprinting with baby bobbing up and down in the "active sling!"..(sorry)

My DP just received his yesterday and modelled it for me - said it was way, way more comfortable than the standard sling which he tried on in Mothercare (for about an hour!). Fair enough though, we don't actually have the baby yet (he modelled it with a blue bunny...) but he's big on camping rucksacks etc and said that the extra strap should help with backache. I'm not terribly interested at this stage, but it does look very smart.

Do shop around, I managed to find it for £53 online (no postage) (I can prob. find the site again) but DP paid £65 because he forgot I'd already done the research!!

i've got a kelty 'kangaroo' sling which has a waist strap as well as shoulder straps - recommend it. Think you can buy it from little trekkers (see mumsnet home page) which would give you a 10% discount. (got mine john lewis)

yeah- wilkinet is very comfortable. As is the huggababy (?) (think its called that) - which is great for older babies- prefer the wilkinet for younger ones though. I used to tramp around the moors in it without any problems- it's supposedly better for the baby as well.
