Another tripp trapp question!

Or two...

When you use the baby kit (the bar at the front), can you pull the baby right up to the table or do you really need to buy the click clack tray from e-bay?

Also, mothercare have a high chair that looks exactly like the tripp trapp but is considerably cheaper. Has anyone seen it, and if so, how does it compare to the real thing in terms of build quality?

apparently tchibo do one even cheaper.

misdee · 30/11/2005 17:25

here i am going to get one soon.

mazzystar · 30/11/2005 17:26

we have the stokke and pull baby right up to table.

when he was first trying to self feed i thought it would be better to have a tray but now it is v nice to have him at the table with us, he likes this very much.

guess it depends on how precious you are about your table (we've got an oilcloth on ours)

LIZS · 30/11/2005 17:32

Depends on the height of your table as to whether the bar gets in the way when you try to tuck the chair under it. The bar is at a fixed height so you could measure it, also some tables have a frame set underneath a few inches in from the edge of the table top which could limit how far it will go. dd could still reach perfectly well though, didn't feel the need for a tray, but was at least 8 months when we started to use it properly.

Do you mean the Baby Dan one @ £79.99 ?

piffle · 30/11/2005 17:35

You just lower the seat, we fit ours under easily, dd came out of the baby set at 2.8 yrs and has been fine, its easier to wipe a tabe than clean a high chair tray IMHO!

mrspink27 · 30/11/2005 17:39

we stopped using the baby set at about 12 months, and just use rein type harness, in fact dd1 didnt use the harness past about 18 months, whereas i wouldnt even try to feed dd2 without secure fastening!!! just found it easier to get them in and out and to be able to pull close enough the the table so they could self feed etc. they both love their tripp trapps. we have 2!!!

mazzystar · 30/11/2005 17:39

that tchibo one looks excellent for the money

mogwai · 30/11/2005 17:39

good points

Not precious about the kitchen table, it wipes clean, but I've now realised it does have a frame set underneath as you describe. Hmm. Some measuring is in order.

I'm not sure whether it was the babydan one, but it was £79.99 and had a cream cushion with animals on, so maybe?

I have the Tchibo one, it's great.

mogwai · 30/11/2005 17:59

thanks for the link, misdee.

That looks good value, but the bar doesn't seem to leave much room for the baby....is there a harness for older babies?

OP posts:
swedishmum · 30/11/2005 23:25

We've never used a tray at all, also never got round to fitting the harness. Works well for us - dd (no 4) is 22 months and happily climbs in and out. Only little glitch - we took the baby set off for a while but she kept sliding forwards with her bum.
We visited a friend in Sweden with dds aged 7 and 9. They both use theirs still (now personalised) at the kitchen table every night. That's value for money. I'm sure all the similar styles work just as well.

aloha · 30/11/2005 23:31

Tchibo one is FAB. I have a Tripp Trapp and a Tchibo.

aloha · 30/11/2005 23:31

Plenty of room for the baby IMO.

I opened this thread expecting it to be a thread about trolls

NannyL · 01/12/2005 08:56

i agree, you wont need to buy the tray and it has worked with the baby bar that every table ive used it with!

These chairs are GREAT imo
