2 wheeled scooter for a 4.5 year old

My dd has suddenly decided that she'd like a 2 wheeled scooter for Christmas. The only ones I've seen online for that age with two wheels are out of stock - she quite fancies the Groovy Chick one but that is for age 7+.

Any suggestions for a scooter for her, preferably to buy on-line, would be greatly appreciated - I don't want to spend more than about £20 and I don't want to use ebay.

I bought a chrome scooter (with red glowing light) from Woolworths reduced to £19.99 the other week. They don't have it on the website, though.

Thanks, I'll have a look. I do struggle getting things like that home though; I don't drive and I have RSI so big boxes give me real grief. Sounds ideal though.

Does anyone else have any suggestions - or know whether the Groovy Chick one would be OK for a (very tall!) 4.5 year old?

This has three wheels and is double what you want to spend but it's so cool!

WigWamBam · 30/11/2005 14:53

That is gorgeous ... she really does want a two wheeled one though. There's a child at school who scoots to school, then his mum scoots home again with the baby on her back (travelling in style!) and I think dd has visions of doing that too (not with my knees ), but she'd be limited to the park if I got one, so it needs to be foldable.

What about this one? Looks perfect to me!

marthamoo · 30/11/2005 14:55

Damnit - 4 to 5 weeks for delivery Will look some more.

WigWamBam · 30/11/2005 14:56

Oh yes - that's perfect. 4 - 5 weeks delivery time from Amazon though, which is a bummer.

Cheaper, not pink, ships in 24 hours

WigWamBam · 30/11/2005 15:01

That's Amazon too - so they have the blue one in, just not the pink one.

She's definitely a pink girlie ... but that's a brilliant price. Thanks, moo

Do mind your (and dd's) fingers with a folding scooter though, wwb - people have lost tips of fingers with them

WigWamBam · 30/11/2005 15:03

Ooooer ... bugger, bugger, I hadn't even thought of that (perhaps that's why some of them are 7+).

Bum. Back to the old drawing board, then.

You're welcome. Could you email amazon and ask if it is really likely to take that long for the pink one? Lay it on thick about your dd being desperate for a pink one for Christmas. I've ordered stuff from amazon with a long wait time and it's come more quickly than they've said (I just want her to have a girlie pink one - it's having two boys that does it...)

marthamoo · 30/11/2005 15:04

Ds1 has had one since he was 6 - I just don't let him fold it.

marthamoo · 30/11/2005 15:06

That one says age 5 - should be OK. Can you tell I'm bored this afternoon? Anyone else got Christmas shopping they need doing?

WigWamBam · 30/11/2005 15:06

I want her to have a pink one too ... at the moment, pink is the only colour in dd's universe, and getting a pink one would be the icing on the cake!

Email them.....

WigWamBam · 30/11/2005 15:08

Yes, I will ... just got to find the link on the page [dim emoticon]

I've emailed them and now have fingers, toes and everything else I can think of well and truly crossed!

Thank you

We got dd's from Halfords. Was £20 with flashing lights in pink and purple.

cupcakesbakingonanopenfire · 30/11/2005 16:52

The woolworths one is recommended for ages 6+ (ds is 5 though). It came in a middlish box with a carry handle so not completely awkward to carry iykwim!
Fingers crossed for amazon though

WWB my daughter has the groovey chick one,I got it for her when she was 4.5 years. She had been using her brothers for ages by then.

WigWamBam · 30/11/2005 19:12

Thanks all. If Amazon don't come up trumps I shall be sulking for a week, and the Groovy Chick one will probably have to do. Huge variation in price though; I've seen it advertised between £20 and £34!

Why did dd leave it until this week to ask for one??

My dh is going to kill me ... we agreed she'd only have the one big present this year, but as she's only asked for one other thing apart from this I think she ought to have it.

Bugger, bugger, bugger, bugger and bum.

Amazon say it's out of stock and they won't have any more in before Christmas.

Arse, poo, bugger, bugger, bugger.
