Maybe tickets for her tour ?

madmarchhare · 30/11/2005 11:59

Magazine subscription?

compo · 30/11/2005 12:02

what's wrong with a signet ring?!! Doesn't ahve to be mega expensive. Or don't you do men and rings Madmarchhare

madmarchhare · 30/11/2005 12:05

It reminds me of those nasty things out of the Argos catalogue that youd buy as teenager. I must say though Im not a big fan of blokey rings at all, except for wedding rings and they have to be very plain.

NomDePlume · 30/11/2005 12:06

rofl 'Elizabeth Duke'

madmarchhare · 30/11/2005 12:10

Thats the one.

NutcrackingXmas · 30/11/2005 12:39

I did think about tickets for Katherine Jenkins tour but I don't know who he could go with. It's not my cup of tea or my brothers either.

Choccie, i usually get him some off the kids, jewellry he doesn't wear, books and cd's have already been got by my brother.

What about DVD's - my dad's collecting MASH and Stargate SG1 on DVD so his birthdays / christmas presents have been easy for the last couple of years!!!

Are there any TV series or films that your dad likes?

Does he do sport of any kind?

JonesTheSteam · 30/11/2005 12:50

I know Hausfrau!! - even better I get to borrow them and watch them!!!!!!

NutcrackingXmas · 30/11/2005 12:59

He doesn't have a dvd player. I did suggest buying him one but he said he never gets chance to watch films.

He is sooooooooooooooooooo awkward to buy for.

Doesn't do sport either.

Does he enjoy reading?

madmarchhare · 30/11/2005 13:09

American truck model making kit type thing?

What about a less expensive 'experience', something like taking a car round a racing track?

If youre really stuck, then you might have to go with the concert ticket and just make someone go with him.

NutcrackingXmas · 30/11/2005 13:09

American truck model making thing would be good, anyone know where I'd get one ??

Does he like gardening?

sweetkitty · 30/11/2005 13:14

I'm having the same dilemma my Dads hobbies are smoking and working I kid you not.

I refuse to buy him cigarettes as I'm not contributing to him killing himself, he doesn't drink, read, watch DVDs. Was going to get him a drive a Ferrari voucher for his 50th but he said he would be too scared to do it!

If I buy him clothes he complains they are too young for him and gives them away to my sponging brother (probably sponging brother tells him "Dad thats too young for you I would be better having it same with aftershave etc).

So far I have got him a Gilette shaving kit and some chocolates (very uninspiring I know)!

NutcrackingXmas · 30/11/2005 13:27

Definatly doesn't like gardening.

I wish he would just tell me something he wants, but he won't do that.

the best I could do I'm afraid!!!

Any good?

CharBell · 30/11/2005 14:27

Have you done the calendar of his grandkids thing yet? www.pixum.co.uk is the cheapest I found and really good quality. Bought one from great-grandparents and grandparents and then was so excited, I failed to keep them till Christmas. What a sap.
