Can you help me find a little light that clips on?

We want to get dd1 a little plug in light for her bedroom. She has a cabin bed and likes to read in bed at night/in the morning, also she could do with an extra light to do her homework by. I'd like to get one that has a clip thingy so she can clip it onto her bed - any ideas?

Ikea used to do them. Will look on their website...

clamp spotlights

Miaou · 29/11/2005 17:13

Thanks cupcakes - yes that sort of thing!

Any other suggestions? Ikea is a looooong drive from us....

Hmm...
Habitat do a spot called Fudji for £8. Look in products/a-z under 'spotlights'.

I got one a few weeks ago for my daughter from Homebase. They have lots of different colours and they're cheap too.

Miaou · 29/11/2005 17:20

homebase ... is that b&q? Dh was muttering about going down to Glasgow before christmas so that's a possibility.

We also got one for our ds in Homebase.

Ikea

SoupDragon · 29/11/2005 17:25

These. DS1 has something like the "Femtom" one with an energy saving bulb in it so it doesn't get too hot. You do need to be careful as I think they can be a fire hazard if they're too near the bedding.

SoupDragon · 29/11/2005 17:27

There are a few more under the heading "work lamps".

You do, of course, have to live near Ikea to get one or have someone to post you one!!

nightowl · 29/11/2005 17:53

know it sounds silly but pound shop have a plug in, clip on lightbulb if thats what you need? or else they did, i have one somewhere.

Miaou · 29/11/2005 17:59

Well it's for dd1's bedroom, so a bare lightbulb may not be such a good idea, thanks anyway nightowl.

Am trawling through the Argos site to see if they have one - we have an Argos in Fort William you see, so will save me a four hour round trip!!

Ours is like this only a black clip-on one. HTH

(We also have this very blue desklamp which we did buy in store...???)

SoupDragon · 29/11/2005 20:01

Halogen lights are very hot though.

Skribble · 29/11/2005 21:06

I have a LED one that runs off batteries and can be clipped to books.

Janh · 29/11/2005 21:13

They are only 20w, not too bad - only hot if you touch the glass, and you wouldn't touch a bulb anyway, would you? (Not more than once anyway )

Miaou · 29/11/2005 21:21

oooh, thanks for the ideas chaps

Oh heed the Soupdragons word of warnings! One of the boys in my threes class had a very nasty escape with a clip on light, it slipped and he was asleep and it scorched his bedding and set off the smoke detector fortuneatly, but the bedding caught alight and they ended up calling the fire brigade who have said they should not be used for children under 14, how old is your child? Felix was 8 and a sensible boy, but it happened so easily.

Janh · 29/11/2005 22:01

Oh blimey, you are worrying me now, it's DS1 who has the clip-on light and he is 17 but he is a lunatic, I must check the battery in his smoke detector

Miaou · 29/11/2005 22:22

"he is 17 but he is a lunatic"

but he's a lovely lunatic, janh
