It's a shame though - that's what children's nativity plays are all about. I have fond memories of DS1 (then 4) as one of the kings holding his gift by the lid to see if it would stay on (it didn't for long) and DS2 as Lead "sleepy" shepherd lurching his way to Bethlehem and waving frantically. Although, to be fair, I didn't give him a crook because of the weapons thing...

Glad the costume arrived safely You can pretend you slaved over it for hours.

The worst year was when he was a snowman (lot of those in Bethlehem, I believe) and I had to find a plain, white long-sleeved top - no logo. They simply do not exist. Ended up sewing a patch over the picture i=on a top he already had.

I noticed, most of the other shepherds have store-bought costumes. But the head of nursery disapproves of them, at least.

My 2 and a half year old has to be "innkeeper" - do you think they would appreciate him taking in a can of heinkeen.

My 4 and a half year old has to be black "sheep" and have no black t-shirts. Do you think they would mind a dark navy t-shirt.

This costume thing is all of a bit shock to the old system, sure in my day we always used to raid the school dressing up dept!
