I wanted some of this miraculous insect repellant stuff only to find the website needs 7 - 10 days for delivery. I wanted it by Sunday!

Can I get it from anywhere quicker?

Which stuff did you mean? Was it the Skin So Soft Woodland Fragrance? They have got loads of Avon stuff on Ebay, I've just had a look and they've got Woodland Dry Oil Body Spray but I'm not sure exactly what you're after. HTH.

can't really help you but wanted to add my tuppence. I too use the body spray and lotion on holiday. I usually get bitten to buggery by mozzies & am allergic so come up in huge lumps. Have tried insect repellents from Boots but none worked that well - still got couple of bites until someone suggested SSS by avon. Bloody wonderful stuff last 2 hols didin't get bitten once.

Soupie, you can buy some when you get here, Jerry's down in Sanibel should have a big selection of bug sprays and hopefully skin so soft. I know you porbably don't want to be running around buying stuff. I guess if you can get it on ebay before Sunday it is just as well.

SoupDragon · 13/10/2003 09:36

Oooh - I didn't know you could buy it there in a shop. We need to buy nappies anyway so there'll be plenty of "buying stuff" going on.

I always get bitten to death too. Got a whopper in the Florida Keys one year where I couldn't put my foot to the ground it was so huge and painful.

Don't kill me if it is not on the shelf, but I could swear I saw it the last time we were down there. I get bitten like crazy myself. They have those no-see-ums that make me itch like mad. It is a MUST to use down there. If they don't have the skin-so-soft, they are sure to have at least 15 other good alternatives. Pampers make a good nappy as do LUVs and I believe LUVs are a bit cheaper. My DD is 9 now, so it has been a while for me since I was buying nappies. Another trick with the bugs: If you enjoy Marmite, start eating a bit everyday on toast (along with rest of your family unless you just want to brag!) until you leave and see if you don't get less bug bites this time (mosquites)the vitamin B12 just doesn't taste good to them. If you don't like marmite, you can just buy a supplement and take itbut it won't help with the no-see-ums! Also melatonin is supposed to help with jet lag. (If you are already at the health food store) Have such a good time, I already forget when you are leaving/coming --ah stress.... let me know if you need anything Soupie, safe journey.

We've used Publix own brand nappies before - they're just as good as Pampers IMO. And nice and thin too.

And I'll be round to post a bag of biting insects through your door if they don't sell SSS there. Cackle cackle...

Taking yeast tablets works too actually. Mossies can't stand the smell on your skin. No good for reluctant under 5s to take though.

Soupie, I never tried the Publix ones, can you believe that?? Most of the Publix brand things are every bit as good as the brand namesshould have known. Good idea with the yeast tabs, hadn't thought of that! (I agree about getting your little ones to take themforget it!). Another one of our friends is hosting her best girl friend and husband for holiday here for the next two weekshad them over today, it was good fun! Apparently they have been together for a long while and just had a lovely DD. They are so nice (as always). Their daughter is 14 months. She napped like an angel on my bed this afternoon, I was so honored! They are going to be doing a few local day trips this week and then want to do some snorkeling over the weekend. I am going to lend them some of our snorkel equipment that hasn't been used since our Disney cruiseI am so happy to see it get used again to be honest. I get so guilty over making those kinds of purchases only to use them once or twice and then have them sit in the closet until next year. Have a safe, wonderful flight. If you change your mind, need anything, whatever--you have our info to get in touch Soupie!

soupdragon, I've been an avon rep for 7years, sss doesn't do an insect repellant, the only thing I can think of is their sunlotions with insect repellant. I've just had a quick look through the current brochure, no luck I'm afraid.

lou33 · 14/10/2003 21:43

Suvivour, sss original just has a reputation for being a good insect repellant,

jasper · 14/10/2003 23:55

can someone tell me which of the SSS fragrance is meant to be best as insect repellant? I bought the original (pink) a while back but was told by someone only the woodland fresh(green) worked.
Anyone know?

Angiel · 15/10/2003 08:51

I think it's supposed to be the Woodland one. HTH.

SoupDragon · 15/10/2003 09:16

Yes, it's the Woodland one - which I thought was the "original" one! Works wonders for keeping biting insects at bay even though Avon don't market it as doing this.

I had lost this thread, only just found it! it does help when you actually take notice of what you are doing! Never mind I will get the hang of this, I HOPE sooner rather than later.
