Baby Annabel and blue pen

My very artistic 2 year old has just (or i have just found it anyway) given baby Annabell a new look with a blue biro. Does anyone know of a way to get her back to normal it looks like she has varicose(sorry for the spelling) veins on her face. I've tried scrubbing with fairy liquid but have had no sucess just hope someone has a solution.

Baby wipes usually get off all substances. Not got a Baby Annabell though, and did pull the head off my own Tiny Tears with a fork when I was two, so don't trust me re dolls!

misdee · 28/11/2005 00:03

i heard that soaking the doll in milk helps get rid of biro, now i dont know if thats cows milk, formula or breastmilk.

alexsmum · 28/11/2005 00:41

i think the milk trick only works on fabric????

MaggieW · 28/11/2005 08:14

Would gently rubbing with an abrasive cleaner help ie Cif/Jif or whatever they call it now?

Hayls · 28/11/2005 08:33

My dd did this the other day to a pair of brand new £28 boots from Clarks. It won't come off so I can't help either!

Vodka and milk work on lino and laminate floors, might help?

magnolia1 · 28/11/2005 10:51

Bleach?? It worked on our baby annabell with marker pen!!!

Enid · 28/11/2005 11:04

I love mumsnet

I was thinking of asking this at the weekend but decided it was just too petty

thanks 1980cat and all the replies. am off to try to remove the biro 'tatoo' that dd1 so kindly did on dd2s baby annabels head.

Kelly1978 · 28/11/2005 11:08

nail varnish remover?

cupcakesbakingonanopenfire · 28/11/2005 11:09

My dd's friend did this to dd's My First Baby Annabell. I tried fairy, vanish and washing up liquid. And then I put the doll in the washing machine! The pen marks were still all over her face but then a couple of weeks later they had faded away and now you can't see them at all. Weird self-cleaning doll...

cupcakesbakingonanopenfire · 28/11/2005 11:10

oh yes, I tried nail varnish remover too which also seemed to have no effect.

Enid · 28/11/2005 11:11

bleach and oven cleaner and jif and White Wizard don't work

gingerbear · 28/11/2005 11:13

'Baby Annabel binges on Milk and Alcohol'

shock headline on MN News

Enid · 28/11/2005 11:14

mine smells nice now though

harpsichordcarrier · 28/11/2005 11:17

i did this with my tiny tears! you obv have a very creative child
oh and I should definitely NOT have called my baby Annabel because this thread is doing my head in

Enid · 28/11/2005 11:18

lol

1980cat · 28/11/2005 11:34

Ok, tried the milk, bleach, floor cleaner and nail varnish remover and the nail varnish remover has made the lighter marks slightly lighter so at the moemnt she is sitting with a nail varnish remover compress on her forehead. Next I might try graffiti remover although I'm slightly worried this might melt her head.
Glad to hear that other children have done this as well. Dd seems to be going through a very creative phase at the moment and I have to hide all the pens and things from her which is very annoying when someone phones and you have to spend half and hour hunting for the a pen to write stuff down.
The only thing she is getting to draw with is washable crayons and chalk at the moment. My mum bought her a easel for her birthday recently and I'm still to scared to let her loose with paint yet.

felt pens and biros are sadly banned for 3 year old dd2 as she has little to no self-control. she accepts it with good grace bless her.

let us know about the nail polish remover

magnolia1 · 28/11/2005 21:58

Bleached worked for our baby annabell but I did have to drown her in it for an hour and then scrub with a green scourer
