I like to get dd a really nice doll for dd for Christmas. When I say nice I mean one of good quality with good quality clothes and body etc. It also must not make any noises etc - My children make enough noise.............

Also it mustnt cost more than £30 - Is this asking too much? Is there such a thing available???????????

how old is she?

If you want to go down the barbie route, they are doing My First Barbie which is soft and can be dressed in different outfits.

busybusybee · 27/11/2005 12:14

She is currently not even 2 but Im looking around anyway

Barbie is most definitely not what Im looking for - the exact opposite in fact

We went through this last year and the only places that had the real old fashioned lovely dollies were Hamleys and Daisy and Toms.

foxinsocks · 27/11/2005 12:17

try elc or john lewis - as bbb said, big department stores are probably your best bet

foxinsocks · 27/11/2005 12:20

here is a lovely hamleys one - soft doll with 3 outfits £19.99

foxinsocks · 27/11/2005 12:21

hamleys soft doll

busybusybee · 27/11/2005 12:24

I have never heard of Daisy and Tom so they could be worth a try

We live in a rural area miles away from shops with a large choice so i dont get much of a chance so have a look - hence im trying online..........

Of the mainstream advertised dolls, i think Baby Annabelle loooks the nicest.
DS wants BabyBorn, hideous!

LIZS · 27/11/2005 13:08

Corolle dolls are lovely quality and have lots of detail . Also on that site are German doll brands such as Kathe Kruse and Gotz.

busybusybee · 27/11/2005 14:18

~Blu - Im interested in your comparison between the Annabelle and born dolls - will investigate as previously i have dismissed them both

Liz - I am going to check out your link Thankyou!

give her another year and a Baby Annabelle , Baby Born it will be!!

Wait until the adverts come on the tv!!!!

I want I want I want!!......... and I bet you anything she will want the noisy talking, burping, laughing ones!! However much you hate them lol

littledonkeyrach · 27/11/2005 15:39

Woolworths do a nice one which is their own make. Think it is called my first baby doll.

busybusybee · 27/11/2005 20:06

Annie Bear - you are right of course - dd is likely to love all the noisy ones in time! We do however have an advantage due to the fact that we dont have a tv so adverts are not something dd has access to yet - :O

Littledonkeyrach - I will check out the woolworths one thankyou for the suggestion!

Alternatively you could get My First Baby Annabel - a quiet basic one aimed at the younger market reduced to just £7.50 here or a first Tiny Tears. dd also had a very basic one from Toy R Us' You and Me range, several Maggies Raggies and noisier ones, courtesy of granma, from Woolworths. However given the choice (and your dd not yet being old enough to assert her will !) I'd still recommend the Corolle ones.

busybusybee · 27/11/2005 20:53

Lizs Thankyou for that latest link - Excellent! I think it will be a my first Annabelle - reassuringly described as non functional - Hurrah!

Thankyou everyone for your help

dd has the Woolies first baby one (the 12 inch one with closed eyes) and is inseperable from it. I gave her a Baby Annabel a couple of years ago, and although interested for a couple of weeks has never played with it (in fact we gave it away recently). You can get nice clothes from Petite, but everything else is a bit big (much easier to find 14/16/18 inch doll's stuff)
