What exactly does it do and will my DS (5) get fed up of it ?? He loves dinosaurs & has seen it in the shops & is adamant Father Christmas will be bringng him one !

My DS (4) was given a remote control dinosaur by someone who's child hated it! It is in the bottom of the toy box gathering dust after the initial five minute wonder.

don't waste your money!

and the one he's got was apparently £25 from ELC

SueW · 23/11/2005 21:49

I spent about half an hour playing with one in John Lewis the other day. I was most upset when a child came up and showed interest and I felt I had to hand over the controls.

Naturally being 'old' it had taken me about 20 mins to get the hang of it; the child had it going in about 30secs flat!

It swings its tail and walks and 'roars' and dips its head and goodness knows what else. Handset is like a playstation type thing which I should have known would have meant I couldn't use it.

Yes we have seen the ELC version - not very exciting. Liked the interactive part of Roboraptor but it is expensive!

peters dad has got one, apparently he made it walk through harefield hospital corridors.

Whizzz · 23/11/2005 21:54

I can't really decide if its DS that wants it... or me

i thought FIL would buy it for the kids, but no it was for himself

SackAche · 23/11/2005 21:57

My ds got Robosapien last year and wants the Dinosaur this year (amongst 5 million other things he's seen on TV)!
But I'm loathed to buy it now...... Robosapien cost us £70 but was £35 on boxing! Hurrrrumph!

SackAche · 23/11/2005 21:58

...er Boxing Day.

Whizzz · 24/11/2005 17:47

I've got one for my 9 year old, I think it's probably too sophisticated for a 5 yr old and you'd get away with a cheaper version - I think they do one for about £25? The £80 one has different modes ie aggressive/friendly which would probably go over his head?

Whizzz · 26/11/2005 10:08

Any more views - I think he might get fed up of it but he still keeps asking about it !

They have these in Tescos for £57.95 at the moment.

Whizzz · 26/11/2005 10:18

I know DS has been talking about it for months !

We rbought one for DS who is 8, from Tesco for 57.95. DH has had a play (had to make sure it worked ) and its seems like a great toy.

hercules · 26/11/2005 10:25

It seems a huge waste of money. Seems the batteries need replacing a lot too.
