Best dolls house?

We are thinking of getting Ds2 a dolls house for Christmas. He is 4 with special needs - one of his problems is that he has trouble with fine motor skills so he needs dolls and furniture that are not too fiddly and rooms he can his hands into easily. I was thinking of the Plan toys one? Anyone any experience or suggestions?

Playmobil. Good quality chunky but still poseable figures. Brilliant. Argos have the Playmobil Mansion house for £89.99 including 2 free furniture sets (house comes unfurnished normally).

£10 off now, get it for £79.99 including 2 free room sets !

are you after a traditional one? if not this one is great here

all the rooms have sounds like ringing phone, flushing toilet, washing machine, computer etc and the accessories and people are easy to play with, my 2 dd's (3 and 1) play with this a lot

ELC looks great ... we're getting it for DS2 (maybe it's dolls houses for boys this year?!) ... at the moment it's reduced to £40 with the furniture sets down to around £7 - out of stock yesterday but due back in today.

Playmobil one is £69.99 on mailorderexpress.co.uk with free kitchen ! tbh it depends on his difficulties but think you may be better with a nice chunky wooden one. This one looks good value at £39.99 and there is a basic unfurnished one for £14.99 also on Toys R us. Otherwise how about a wooden farm ?

Thanks for the suggestions and links from everyone. I agree LIZS - I like the playmobil stuff but Ds2 finds it too fiddly. Unless you have seen him or a child with similar difficulties it is difficult to believe how poor his manipulation skills are. We already have a farm and he loves animals but we are trying to move him on to a wider variety of play things.

I like the wooden doll houses like the ELC and the ones on Toys r us and I still like the look of the Plan toys ones, I think I will have to go to a toyshop and have a look at some to see what looks most suitable.

agree with nailpolish, the Little People one is very good. And there's nothing fiddly about it. My ds (5) and dd (2) both love it.
