Dyson or Henry?

My blinking Dyson (just 2.5 years old) has just died -- again. This time I fear it will not rise again, and my cleaner has told me to get a Henry.

Is she right?

yes it's fab

gingerbear · 19/11/2005 22:54

Miele Cat n dog is the best - 1,000,000 times better than my old dyson.
Henry is bulky.

Miele cat and dog or anything in the same range, cheaper than Dyson but long way better than them. The only downside point is that you don't get to see the dust in the cylinder (vacuuming is not so much fun without it, only thing I miss of my useles and ephemerous Dyson)

crunchie · 19/11/2005 22:57

henry

You can throw it downstairs and it still works

had a dyson for years which I was fairly pleased with, think it was one of the early ones that were supposed to be better. When it died recently i bought a henry. It's fab no heavier than dyson I think. If you have pile carpets you'd be better of geting the version with a rotating brush head.my friend has just bought one and is very pleased with it.

As someone said on here before " A thousand builders can't be wrong" they're simple ans you can hoover anything up with them even rubble/

mazzystar · 19/11/2005 23:39

henry no question.

Skribble · 19/11/2005 23:40

What about George Edward Charles Basil Henry plus

hunkermunker · 19/11/2005 23:43

Neither - Miele. Miele always come top in Which reports, etc.

JCW · 19/11/2005 23:44

But is Miele not horrendously expensive?

ScummyMummy · 19/11/2005 23:47

Haven't had a Henry but our Dyson died at a v young age and I would never have one again. Henrys look v cute, i must say.

hunkermunker · 19/11/2005 23:48

Nope, far cheaper than a comparable Dyson.

Caligula · 19/11/2005 23:49

Henry.

My builder used it because he said it was better than his frightfully expensive industrial one.

Skribble · 20/11/2005 00:03

Basil is much cuter.

Voice of dissension: I don't like my Henry!

I bought him on MN recommendation (had a Dyson previously, which had done sterling service for about 7 years but wasn't picking up as well as it used to).

And..he picks up well. But..I can't do the stairs top to bottom - I have to balance him on the wide turny corner stair a third of the way up; he's all sprawly and untidy in the under-stairs cupboard and falls out on me on a regular basis; he catches on chairs etc. when I am pulling him round - then I get narky and tug and he tips over (turns turtle).

On the whole, I conclude am an upright kinda gal - not a pull along, hose type. But apparently Henry's last for ever so I guess I'm lumbered.

I thought this was another baby naming thread

hermykne · 20/11/2005 08:26

neither MIELE
just got my new one and its excellant.

Potty1 · 20/11/2005 09:18

My dad has a hoover repair business - he compares Dyson to a moody teenage who keeps coming back - high maintenance and costs you a fortune. Henry however, gets waved off on day 1 and he never sees them again (sob!!)

Henry is not good for business

edam · 20/11/2005 09:20

at Potty1.

Henry - have both (three storey house) and Henry is much better.

Chandra · 20/11/2005 10:25

Potty , what does he says about Miele?
