What bath stuff, soap, shampoo and conditioner do you use for your kids?

Ds1 is reasonably easy, but dd1 needs conditioner etc. I have started using sanex bath stuff, (previously used dermol while they were young, - twins still use this) but I have no idea if Sanex is alright for kids.

Also what shampoos and conditioners are suitable for a 3 year old? She still seems to suffer from cradle cap/flaky scalp and has very fine hair, which knots easily.

I have stayed away from Johnsons etc, because of the perfumes...

Help please!

I like Avalon Lavender shampoo
Green People conditioner and bath foam

acnebride · 18/11/2005 21:35

bought some calendula baby bath from Spirit of Nature

i use our shampoo, which is any old stuff on special

and Aussie Miracle conditioner because it was the only leave-in conditioner i could find at the time

i'm afraid i do use johnsons because i like the smell on ds.

for dd's hair i use l'oreal all in one, does make her hair a bit less knotty (i also use tea tree shampoo and conditioner once a week when i do a preventative wet comb for nits, her nursery ask parents to wet comb regularly and so far, only one child there has had nits this year)

I love L'Oreal kids shampoo and conditioner - even though youngest is now 12 I still buy it and he still uses it!

They do a strawberry one, am - shampoo and conditioner. I suppose as it is scented it may not be good for your DD but you could try it on her and if it doesn't suit use it up on the others.

Organic Children shampoo and conditioner and Napier's Mother and Baby soap.

Tressemme at the moment.

have you tried the new halos and horns range, they sell it in tesco and waitrose. it is fairly new and comes in shampoo, conditioner, 2 in 1 and gel soap, the marketing part of it is that it is free of lots of the chemicals that cause skin conditions such as flaky scalps and is supposed to be low in the toxins that are carceogenic(?sp).

i use it for ds1(8yo) and ds2 (3yo) and although admittedly not hte best at lathering ds2's skin has been a lot better, before this i had to just wash him with water and his scalp was always itchy from all the chemicals perfumes in the other ranges, even the ones like simple.

VYY - yours sounds good, I will have to ask MIL to find me some, as we are in France.

What should I use as bubbles, and body wash, anyone? Is Sanex ok?

Right well mine are 4 and 1. I use Johnson's shampoo (that my MIL bought when the 4yo was born) twice a week and other than that just a bar of Asda baby soap. We've still got a full botle of the Johnson's to go at but will have to think when that is done, but I reckon I've probably got a year yet.

Have you got a health shop near your. Theres quite a few different brands all with 'friendly' ingredients. I'm not so sure that 'childrens' stuff is any different than the normal, I've got a feeling it's a marketing ploy?? I might be wrong.

Hulababy · 20/11/2005 21:39

I use L'Oreal Kids with my 3yo DD,, and at the moment Asda's own kid's shower gel. Luckily DD has no skin problems.

Furball · 20/11/2005 21:39

Sorry - didn't see you're in France. My DS has never had bubbles as he's got quite sensitive skin. So it doesn't really matter if they don't have any at all.

Frenchgirl · 20/11/2005 21:40

smellymelly why don't you go to your local pharmacie and ask for something hypoallergenic?

Frenchgirl · 20/11/2005 21:43

well, not necessarily hypoallergenic, but just ask for something suitably soft....

princesspeahead · 20/11/2005 22:15

simple do a very nice shampoo and conditioner which doesn't seem to bother my childrens ezcema prone skin. it isn't particularly for kids, it is just the normal simple range in white bottles.
used the loreal kids range of shampoo on holiday and it definitely aggravated their skin a bit.

marthamoo · 20/11/2005 22:20

Body Shop's honey shampoo (not kid friendly so you have to mind their eyes). Mine don't need the conditioner as well - it leaves their hair lovely and soft and they smell gorgeous: like freshly baked cakes. Yummy.

marthamoo · 20/11/2005 22:21

I really don't like the Halos and Horns stuff - I find it very strong smelling.
