We do have Percy and James who have both been loved almost beyond recovery but I've been asked if I could buy one for a friend's little boy for his birthday and I think I have to limit the price for birthday presents otherwise it gets out of hand. The Tesco ones will probably be great i will go and take a look. Has anyone bought one of these? What is the quality like?

Ah ha! Quite right! Tesco's are fine - really annoying whistle noise that sounds more like a dinosaur, but hey - you don't need to listen to it

They are fine - a bit more plastic-y than Brio type but very roobust. Limited colours - may only do red - I think thats all they had when we bought DSs. They do make a whistle type noise too !

ditto red

Thans everyone - most helpful! I'll be off to Tescos tomorrow.
