Anybody found any good websites where I could buy my dd, 3, a nice warm winter coat? I can't find anything and seem to have been searching for hours ... yawn ... she's very slightly built so can't wear those big puffed up anorak types.

oh this is such a nightmare isn't it.
I really struggled to find dd anything last year and ended up with something waterproof but not warm that in any case fell to bits!
This year she's just wearing ds1's navy blue Gap coat.
Have you looked at Boden? \link{http://www.boden.co.uk/col.asp?segname=Mini&styid=35009&segid=5&gpname=Outerwear&desname=Printed+Cord+Parka&gpid=15&gen=1#\this] is nice, my sister's dd has somethign similar from last year and it's worn very well.

Gah! i mean this!

hana · 15/11/2005 00:23

me too - have been searching for dd2 for the very same but everything I see is so v v pink or not at all practical ( warm) I do like a bit of pink, but none of the highstreet stores did a straitforward winter jacket without stars fairies butterflies hearts etc etc.
would love boden but too much money for dd2, she's only 10 months!

swings · 15/11/2005 13:37

I looked at Boden but there were only 4 coats in dd's age range, and very expensive and none looked particularly warm ... I did buy her one from Next this morning but I have to say it's absolutely huge and really dull, am thinking of returning it already!

dd1 is thin as you like but looks fabbo in her incredibly warm gap coat - its a size 6-7 she is 5.

it is soooooooo warm and waterproof I am in heaven about it.

aloha · 15/11/2005 13:39

such a lovely, lovely pink coat by Bonpoint on La Redoute. Would love to buy it for dd, but she's only 9months old. It's delicious - and reduced.

Enid · 15/11/2005 13:39

it is shiny pale pink with cosy cream fleece lining, machine washable and glamourous ski bunny looking

swings · 15/11/2005 13:40

So where from Enid? I went into Gap but they only had big puffy anoraks in flourescent pale green and pink ...

Don't suppose you've got a link, aloha?

Please find it for us Enid and post a link to specific coat.

I'm quite pensive about this. We were in Paris last Feb and it was freezing - literally, muchos colder than the UK. We'll be there over Christmas so I really need something ultra warm and toasty for dd (and ds)

aloha · 15/11/2005 13:43

here but there are more on the site.
Bought lots of things for dd this morning, including dear little plum velvet combat trousers.

Enid · 15/11/2005 13:44

it is this one but in a nice pale pink

here

tbh dh picked it out and I grimaced, then dd1 tried it on and she looked so lovely and cosy and it fitted really really well I was converted.

Enid · 15/11/2005 13:45

and it is machine washable

and it doesnt look riducuolosly puffy either

handlemecarefully · 15/11/2005 13:48

Thanks - shame it's in silver and not pink but it does look warm. There is a similar one on that site in 'pumice' (beige!)

aloha · 15/11/2005 13:53

Oh, bum. Actually just search L'heure Anglais coat and you will see it.
The links don't seem to work on individual pages.

swings · 15/11/2005 13:58

I found it aloha, bloody difficult site that one, it takes AGES to load the pages. It's gorgeous, just what I'm after. Pure wool ... do you suppose it needs dry cleaning? That's my only quandry.

swings · 15/11/2005 13:59

Enid, I saw those in Gap, they're sweet but literally dd wouldn't be able to move a limb in them. She's a tiny 3-year-old.

OP posts:
aloha · 15/11/2005 13:59

I would guess so...sadly. There is also a beautiful corduroy coat only it's not quite as special. It is yummy, isn't it. Am thinking of ordering it in a huge size and putting aside, I like it so much.

swings · 15/11/2005 14:01

I love it too. I wish they had one in my size. But then I'm always wishing that with dd's clothes! I have to get something practical for romping in the park and doing daredevil tree climbing etc. and I don't think that lovely coat would withstand all that. Well not without a huge drycleaning bill. Although, maybe for best .....

aloha · 15/11/2005 14:02

The site is really slow atm - was superfast this morning.

aloha · 15/11/2005 14:05

Try searching 'Bonpoint coat' - there's a lovely one in chocolate brown with a fur lining. Tough looking, warm and pretty.

Enid · 15/11/2005 14:22

swings they do it in tiny sizes that also fitted my small just 3 year old

didnt get it as they would have looked like strange twins

Bozza · 15/11/2005 14:22

But aloha all those coats including the L'heure Anglais one seem to be from age 2.

Bozza · 15/11/2005 14:23

No actually it says 2-16 years but then the size starts at 86 which is smaller than 2 isn't it?
