Recommend a nappy please!

I am having trouble finding a nappy that is suitable for ds for night time use. He is just two but quite big for his age - over 15 kilos.

Most nights he wakes as his nappy has leaked and his pyjamas and bedding is wet. I know his willy is sometimes pointing the wrong way but I think it is also the fact that the nappies don't seem to hold all of his night time emissions!

Any recommendations? Have tried quite a few nappies/pull ups but would be interested to here if you had similar problems and how you solved it.

Thanks

Have you tried the Tesco nappies? It's in a bluey purpley pack, not the white one.

janeybops · 14/11/2005 20:04

yes we use those for daytime use and also the Tesco pull ups but they have both leaked at night.

what about reusable motherease bedwetters?

or maybe a tots size 3 (with a wrap) you can then boost that if you need to

janeybops · 14/11/2005 20:06

nannyl I have never heard of these. Where would I get them? Are they disposibles?

I had the same problem with my DS, until I saw him lying with his bum in the air when he sleeps, which make a little gap between the nappy and his leg where the wee used to run out, so we kept pulling his legs down or lying him back on his side.

janeybops · 14/11/2005 20:20

oh he does do that sometimes! He also sticks his hand down there for a bit of comfort as he sleeps so that probably leaves a gap too.

Have tried to potty train but he is not ready - oh um!

Are you sure he's not messing with his nappy? My sons 2 yrs and 5 mths and just after his 2nd b'day he kept playing with his nappy and trying to take it off! I've always found Pampers Baby Dry to be good, they've always held his wee at night.

UCM · 14/11/2005 23:16

I used pampers for the first year but then experimented with Sainsburys (v.good) then Asda & Tescos, i am sure that they are made by the same people.

DS is now 2 and to avoid nighttime leaks the only one for me is Huggies supreme. He started leaking about 4 months ago and I used small packs of everything until I found them.

intergalacticwalrus · 14/11/2005 23:20

We have deflected from Pamper's baby dry to Asda, which are bettre IMO. And we need industrial strength for DS's toxic bottom. Asda are a good 2 or 3 quid cheaper too.

NannyL · 15/11/2005 08:42

janeybops they are washable ones

try thenappylady.co.uk

janeybops · 15/11/2005 12:05

I am currently trying out Pampers Baby Dry but so far 2 nights and we have had 2 leaks.

Huggies Convertibles were awful - when the lining gets wet it all leaked out over him. Yuck.

Will try Huggies Supreme - but must say I have never been a fan of Huggies. They leaked with dd so never bothered with them for ds.

No Asda stores around here that I know of, which is a shame. I did try Sainsburys but wasn't impressed.

So far my favourite for day is Tesco but they don't hold enough for night times.

Nannyl will try the website you recommended. Never thought of washables!

What about boots own.... my friedn swears by size 6 for night time! (No leaks yet... i think its the ONLY disposable brand that fits that criteria.... she has tried just about ALL of the others!0

janeybops · 15/11/2005 19:05

Had tried Boots but not that size - the size 5 are too small. Thnaks

SugaPlum · 15/11/2005 23:40

I've used boots own nappies (size 6) and didn't find them to be too great, i found that once he'd had a couple of wees in the nappy it was hanging around his knees lol - Morrisons own nappies aren't bad, bought a pack a couple of days ago and no leaks here! Worth giving them a go.

colditz · 15/11/2005 23:44

What about putting a tightish fitting popper vest, or a pair of pants, over the biggest nappy you can make fit? The gaps shouldn't be a problem then.

Also does he still have bedtime milk? How about splitting the amount into two - giving, say, one cup 2 hours before bed, then another small cup just before bed, and changing his last nappy as late as possible.

HTH

MarsLady · 15/11/2005 23:46

Do ASDA deliver in your area? You can look on their website to see.

We swear by George nappies in this house! Brilliant and so lovely and cheap!

millie99 · 15/11/2005 23:50

Another vote for Morrisons own brand. Sainsburys are terrible-boughtthem in an emergency yesterday and just thrown pack away.

janeybops · 16/11/2005 13:59

colditcz - like the idea about a popper vest. Might go and buy one later - do they do them in size 2-3 years????

He has his milk to take to bed. I am reluctant to stop this as it is the only milk he drinks all day, and even then it is only 4 oz.! I do stop his juice/water from about 5 pm if at all possible though.

Janeypops-You get popper vests for 2/3 years old in Tesco's (packs of 3)

janeybops · 16/11/2005 14:19

thanks fimbo

Hi

I am also having this problem with ds aged 6months. He is now on three meals a day and only 3 bottles. I have tried to limit hiswater with dinner but he still has his 8oz before bed (which he is too young to stop). All week he has been soaking through his grobag and waking on/off all night (very annoying). I am using Tesco nappies and have even been putting a pampers over it but no difference. Half the problem is he is pooing in the nappy too which doesn;t help. Any ideas ???????????????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

NannyL · 26/11/2005 10:06

joshuasmumdebs.... can you not go up a size nappy?
