Ds has already said he neeeeeeeeeeeeeds to have "Gruffalo - the dark one" (Gruffalo's child)

So what shall I get for the other one?

He'll be getting it for Christmas when he will be almost 3.

What have yours loved?

Any of the books by same author.

Have a look at the ideas of Popsycal's thread - somewhere on Active Conversations at the moment.

Got another Julia Donaldson one -too lazy to look but something to do with sharing a home. It ticks all ds's boxes

It has a crab
The crab finds a home
The crab shares his home
It is nightime at the end and it has a moon in it.

If I could write children's books it is pretty much what I would have written for ds. So he'll probably hate it.

my ds loves number books!!! He loves to count and he is in to a book about food and farming..its for older children but he loves it!!
I like whatever next
Each peach pear plum
Peepo
Dear Zoo
and Kipper books
oh and percy the park keeper!

bobbybob · 12/11/2005 08:35

He already has all the Lynley Dodd including Hairy Maclary and has them all memorised. I get them out if a competitive mum comes around

I like the Jez Alborough books - I saw another one called Tall today, but it was only in hardback.

Ds adores Mog, and anything by Shirley Hughes - the Alfie stories, or Dogger. Also recently very taken by Winnie the Witch. Oops, just seen you have chosen your book already, hope Bob enjoys them.

Ds2 likes,
The Bear and my friend bear by Jez Alborough.

Duck in the truck

But these are all good things I could order fromt he library for him. He loves Jez Alborough - but they are always available in the library - either the librarian loves them too and has ordered loads, or nobody else shares his enthusiasm. I like the fact you can get them as a board book. Even though he's nearly 3 he still likes the chunky feel - he gets very upset if he slightly rips a page and says "oh, mummy I've spoilt it now".

But some books you have to read overandoverandoverandover again and it's not convenient to have them from the library. Bugliest Bug was one such book in our house - I can probably recite most of it from memory now!

He loves sharing a shell. Now has memorised it and is reading it to me. I know I said they were for Christmas - but what is the point in waiting with books when they can be enjoyed immediately.
