Anyone remember & know where I can get......

There must be someone out there who remembers magic painting books.....They were sort of colouring books but were grey shaded in colour, and when you painted over the pictures with plain old tap water they coloured in the colours like magic. I loved them when I was a kid and would really like to get one for my son as a knick knack present for his stocking at xmas. Does anyone remember what I'm talking about and if so has anyone seen them about anywhere.

Yes! I know what you are talking about. They are a cheap way for kids to paint, just need brush and water. I don't know where you can get them nationally (I haven't found any since I moved) but what was my local £1 shop in the north east has them for well a pound for 2.

We also have a shop called Trademark and some called Lewins which are all over the place, so I think they might be a national shop. Woolworths might sell them or The Works bookshop. I think The Works is a national shop.

I still secretly enjoy using those books myself!

I loved magic painting books, too. Private newsagents and toy shops also sell them.

Bexi · 04/10/2001 16:07

Wow...I remember those, they were great! I imagine that independant toy shops would sell them.

Waterstones are doing slightly more "upmarket" magic painting books (where you get a kind of mini paint pallette inside) in a Harry Potter ange. They are pricier than the others referred to - I think they were £3.99. Nice if you've got a Harry Potter freak like my six year old though!

I just got a couple from the Early Learning Centre in Edinburgh.

Any ideas out there for where to get a steering wheel toy you can attach to a child's car seat? My ds is obsessed with cars and driving and I think a toy steering wheel that attaches to his car seat would be just up his street. I've asked around a fair bit, and people say they've seen them before, but nobody I've found can be any more specific than that.

Thanks, Lorien

Lorien
I have a feeling that JoJo Maman Bebe have them in their mail order catalogue. Don't have it to hand to confirm!
I'm sure they have an internet site, too.
Good Luck

Ds has got one that attaches to the car window and his seat, its got indicators etc. Dh got it from Crawley cost £10.00 Ill ask him what shop later and let you know.

monkey · 15/03/2002 10:51

php catalogue

jodee · 18/03/2002 21:00

Ds has a great (but noisy!) steering wheel from ELC (10 quid) but it's not one that you attach to window/car seat tho'. Out of interest, isn't it a bit of a pain having to attach/unattach them each time your put your child into the car seat?

Does anyone know where I could get a doll's sling (so 20 month old can carry her dolly like mummy carries new baby)? Does such a thing even exist?
Thanks - S-t-P

Jaybee · 22/03/2002 16:40

soothepoo - They do one for the Cabbage Patch doll plus I would imagine they would do one for Baby Bjorn - they do everything else. May be worth looking at Toys R Us

Does anyone else remember 'Weebles' (weebles wobble but they dont fall down). I live in Spain so dont know if theyve been around in England for ages but Ive just discovered they are back on the market here. I was so excited I just had to buy some - for ds of course!

leese · 22/03/2002 18:54
