Robosapien .... Is it too delicate/complicated for a bright boisterous 6 year old?

Cos they're very expensive, would I be better getting him the non-remote controlled one, which is much cheaper, but might cause disappointment?

saw this .. cannot believe anyone would contemplate spending £80 on it

rip-off if you ask me (which you didn't but I don't know the actual answer to your question .. snurk)

My parents bought ds one last year for xmas I suggested they didn't but as usual they went ahead and he has NEVER played with it It is a very expensive bookend at the moment

Easy · 07/11/2005 12:37

Twig, I have seen them for rather less than £80, but I KNOW it's a lot of money, which is why I ask.

How old is DS noddy?

I know they are recommended for age 8 and up, but ds is not your average 6 y.o.

He is a bit rough on toys tho', no good if the leg falls off within 2 mins of putting the batteries in .....

how much less Easy? because I get the impression that 4 year old DS would 'kill' for one of them

Easy · 07/11/2005 12:59

Twig, for a 4 year-old they do a mini-version (not remote controlled) which is 9.99, and a Junior which is £20, both from Toys'R'Us , and would prob be better for a younger child. I think ds could handle programming the grown-up one, just wondered how delicate it is.

The full robosapien is available for less on ebay, altho' I have doubts about it (see my other thread from this a.m.)

my ds is 11 now so was 10 when he got it.We played with it a bit on xmas day to please my parents really and it has been on his shel ever since.Better to buy him a small cheaper one as the instructions etc are quite complex iirc

jayzmummy · 07/11/2005 15:00

Same here... we have two that were bought last christmas and neither have been played with....in fact one was taken out of the box and looked at, then put back in the box and not touched since. My Ds's are 11 and 9 and they said they are boring toys!!!

Easy · 07/11/2005 15:10

I think I've ditched the idea for this year. It'll probably get broken, or at least it's going to need help for an adult to play with, and I really want to encourage him to entertain himself more.

Unless Noddy or Jayzmummy want to offer me theirs for a nominal fee
