Got a kindle but what about the boxes of 'real' books??

I have to try and downsize my boxes of real books and now I have the kindle I have no real excuse not to but.... I don't want to just give them to charity, some money would be useful to get the kindle versions plus I an skint anyway!

I've used amazon before to sell but the post and packaging policy is silly and I have often ended up out of pocket or with books not selling...

How does everyone else sell books successfully? I've seen ads for 'books wanted' in the paper but wondered what people's experience of these people are and what sort of money do they pay?

All advice welcome!

Try ebay, I have a kindle for same reason but cannot part with some old favs.
I do buy my DD's book on there as we currently live in Oz and books are really expensive here.
I have paid upto half shop price or sligtly more if i really wanted it.
perhaps group into bundles to save auction costs and I only charge absolute postage costs (included wrapping) when I have sold on it.
good luck.

I second e-bay or craigslist if you live in a main town or gumtree.

You could always see if a used book store/stall will take them as a batch or post them online (many book websites) and arrange sales via paypal.

I had great success selling with www.greenmetropolis.com/ a few years ago.
