A good moisturiser?

I'm in desperate need of a good moisturiser, but was completely baffled in Superdrug yesterday, there are just so many to choose from! I don't need anything special, just something to keep my skin looking nice and my bank manager happy! I am only 22, and have pretty normal skin, so would just cocoa butter or something be enough? I don't like anything greasy or watery on my skin though.
Thanks,
Littlelamb

Although expensive, Clinique is brilliant. It lasts forever so the initial expense is worth it.

Is it ok for sensitive skin mears? My student loan's just come through so I'm in the mood to treat myself after months on the breadline!

Nivea goes on like engine oil, but is great.

Nivea light is quite nice.

L'Oreal do some nice ones, not sure how much they are.

bambi06 · 05/11/2005 09:17

why not use aromatherapy oils,, they are excellent for your skin and the next morning your skin is so soft..you can pop into holland and barrett and get a bottle of almond oil or other similar or go to a shop that sells aromatherapy oils made up and get rose oil diluted mix[absolutely gorgeous] a bit more pricey but lasts longer as you dont need much and almost much better for your skin as its totally natural so chemicals like in those creams!!

I use E45 on face and neck and decollette (sp)

I use palmer cocoa butter, body shop body balm and avon body balm (smells like butterscotch)on body
depends on the mood of the day

Agree with Beety, Clarins is great and it is all natural, didn't suggest it as LL is a student, but now notice that you are looking to indulge a little.

expatinscotland · 05/11/2005 10:00

Hey, Lady, OT, but we were talking about Clarins once in a thread and you'd written that you'd CAT'd me?! I never got it !

I LOVE talking Clarins!

I agree, their moisturisers are fabby.

mears · 05/11/2005 10:32

Yes it is OK for sensitive skin - that's why I got it. Have never tried Clarins.

mears · 05/11/2005 10:35

The clinique one I use is called 'dramatically different moisturizing lotion' and it lasts about a year!

sorry - link here

netrogena do some lovely skin products these days, i have a (blackhead eliminating!) scrub and a moisturiser that's a bit tingly..

LilacBump · 05/11/2005 10:58

i use clinique's dramatically different moisturising GEL and that is wonderful.

MrsWobble · 05/11/2005 11:23

another vote for clarins here - I would economise on many other things before stopping buying this

saadia · 05/11/2005 21:49

I have very dry skin and am older than you but love Estee Lauder's Daywear Anti-Oxidant cream. However that is actually out of my price range so I use, and would recommend the Liz Earle range of moisturisers. I order the one for dry skin from their website.

spidermama · 05/11/2005 21:50

I like Aveda stuff in the green bottle. The others all smell a bit strange and chemically to me.
Also, at the risk of being contraversial, I don't agree with testing them on animals.

I like L'oreal, but I am older, and need more help. Bog standard Oil of Olay (not the fancy versions) is about £3 or £4 in superdrug I think.

soapbox · 05/11/2005 22:24

I use this gatinaue one

I have also used Elemis day and night cream which is lovely.

Under whatever moisturiser I use I always use one of the decleor aromessence oils.

I think what you need depends very much on how old you are. I am very old so use anti wrinkly stuff

You could try QVC for ideas - they stock most of the major skin care ranges these days and have recommendations on the website for various skin types!

Gillian76 · 05/11/2005 23:02

Have tried loads of different moisturisers and keep coming back to Clarins. You get what you pay for IMO. Go on, treat yourself!
