Desk for 6 yr old's bedroom?

My dd has a small bedroom and I'd like to get her a little desk to go in it, preferably with a lift up lid or a drawer for her to keep all her odds and ends and treasures in. I've seen one in an Ikea catalogue - anyone got any other ideas? Can't afford any more than 50 quid so that's a bit limiting!

John Lewis do a desk and chair; not sure how much though.

Is anyone handy with DIY that you know? For our DD her great-grandad built her one. It is so lovely too and painted a great lilac colour. It has a lid that lifts up to store things inside too. It didn't take him long to do and he just used mainly off cuts, so pretty cheap as well. That was just sanded and painted then.

We did that as we couldn't get a desk to match the little wooden IKEA chair we had bought her - bargain £ I thought. The following week my mum went ant got one for their house in the same for £2.50!!!

Argos did/do a great roll-top desk, £60 for desk and chair. I think they still do it.
