Sangenic nappy wrapper bin refills

I've got a yellow Tommee Tippee Sangenic nappy wrapper bin, which I've recently found out has been discontinued.

However, according to their website, I can still get refill cassettes from Mothercare or Boots. I went to Mothercare and was given a four-pack (4 for the price of 3!) which was about a fiver more expensive than they used to be, in different wrapping, and which fits very badly into my nappy bin. Also, the packaging says they are suitable from 4 months plus - why??????

Has anyone else got this problem? I have to really ram the nappies down to get them into the bin (not a pleasant job!) and even then the bin lid won't close properly. I'm a bit hacked off, as I have a new baby now and want to keep using it for at least another couple of years.

i have seen them in boots and the packs say 0+ and 4mths + no idea why the age difference. I actually didnt know they had been discontinued.

The yellow bin has been, although these cassettes apparently fit the new version. Don't know why but our Boots has none at all & Mo'care only does the 4 months one.

DD2 is not 4 months yet but I haven't noticed the bin rejecting her nappies, lol.

they have changed the style of the bin and have brought in new cassettes 0-4 (pre-weaning) and 4+ (during weaning) - supposed to be thicker and keep smells in better maybe??

I havent had to buy any of the new ones yet but they do seem awfully expensive - about £5 for one now (I used to get a 3 pack of the old ones for £9.99)

It does say the new ones are compatible with the old yellow bins but from what you are saying they are not that compatible at all!!

Kiddicare do a 4 pack of the new ones for £15.99 but you need to buy something else off the site to be able to purchase them too. (they are an x-deal)

Just put a rubbish bag inside the container, saves some plastic and you can just lift out when full.

I've seen them in Boots and also Tesco.

It must be something to do with the smell as mine stank so badly it was untrue and no cleaning product could shift the stench. It was rank!

wessexgirl · 31/10/2005 12:57

Ah, yes, the smell thing makes sense.

But I'm going to do what Papillon suggests - good thick bin liner instead. Five quid per ill-fitting cassette is flippin highway robbery.

Well the cassesttes I used were supposedly scented.

Yeah right!

The bin liner is a very good idea. Cheaper and more practical.

Aah - wondered why everyone seemed to have sold out. I have put away my bin as it kept being stinky - even after putting in tea tree oil. I wait for mners to comment on the new refills before I revert back.

Two sizes - just a markering ploy to make money?
