IMO, no. I have two. DD went off them when she was about 6 mos. I blame myself - I listened to a lot of jazz whilst pregnant.

my son loved them from birth until he discovered thomas the tank..lol

My little one has listened to classical music the very first week that he was in hospital and listens every night to classical music.

Is it worth me getting the dvds or not ??

Bits of them make DS cry. He prefers the Baby Bright ones. Or Countdown

NottsMum · 29/10/2005 20:28

They were a godsend in my house. When DD2 was a young baby she was a nightmare from 5pm onwards and they were my saviour. Kept her absolutely fascinated and same for her sister too and she's 4. DD2 is now a year old and she still loves them. I now play one about once a week when she's fractious or I need to do something without her "helping".

In my opinion they are definitely worth getting. I have a couple of friends who have also sworn by them.

I'd look on Ebay if I were you, you're bound to pick them up cheap on there.

startingtobehalloweenylover · 29/10/2005 20:32

they're expensive even on ebay!

Mojomummy · 29/10/2005 21:14

they're excellent ! my DD watched them from about 7mths & would get so excited. I bought baby Mozart & baby van Gogh. The bought a whole set of ebay for £15.99 !!! Also bought baby Macdonald & Noahs Ark in the US.

the animals ones are beautifully shot & we fine them relaxing & enjoying watching them !

poppy101: We have the composer's CDs in this series (haven't watched the DVDs yet). We use them fairly often, they're calming etc. but at first they made me want to vom with their synthesised happiness IYSWIM. If you have some classical CDs you / your babba enjoys, I'd stick with that IMHO, however, the compilation of different pieces would be hard to achieve without a fairly extensive collection, so that is something in their favour. I miss listening to the dynamic variation and musical richness of the origina works, but I can see how the 'lullabied' versions are possibly more suited to a baby's world.

i had world and neighbourhood animals ones, as well as mozart one. she didnt like the mozart one much. just got the shakespeare one out of local library and dd (3 in dec) loves it..some bits I thought were a bit boring, but def worth £1 for a week.

AnnaK · 31/10/2005 08:19

DS hated Baby Einstein but loved Baby Bright. Baby Einstein has lots of small sketches which change very quickly whereas Baby Bright has one continuous cartoon. Depends on the child...

wessexgirl · 31/10/2005 13:24

My DD1 loves them; Baby Shakespeare is her favourite, although she always cries at the end.

We've got Baby Bach and Baby Language Lab too; she was spellbound by all of them.

tassis · 31/10/2005 13:26

We had 30 mins of baby mozart practically every day of ds' life from 3 months until he discovered cbeebies at around a year.

A lifesaver.

Then around 18 months he got scared of the puppets...

bran · 31/10/2005 13:32

My ds had no interest at all in Baby Einstein, he just ignored the tv and carried on playing/whinging/trying to throw himself off high objects.

Tommy · 31/10/2005 13:36

mine loved them - we had the Mozart for DS1 when he was born and then got Beethoven and the shapes one (can't remember name). Really good IMO

poppy101 · 11/11/2005 12:29

Replied I hired some of the dvd's but I find them really old fashioned and look like they have been made in someone elses home.

I can't see why there is such a fuss. Some of toys they use are really naff !!

My lo is not really interested at all in them.

Is this right or am I just looking at them differently from other mums ? Are there new releases of dvds or have I just hired old dvds ?

my dd (13 mths) loves most of them - esp mozart when she was very young and now she adores the baby animals dvd. music on that is lovely.

mommie · 11/11/2005 16:38

now she says "Iger" when she sees the Tiger come on, so must be learning something
