Do you mumsnetters have any suggestions for gifts suited to petite mums, big babies or those recovering from c-sections - or all of the above?!

This friend of mine lives in NZ (I'm in UK) so I'm looking for items that are easy/cheap to post or could be delivered.

There's a challenge!

A school bag and shoes for the newborn babs!!!!!!

WOW 11lbs.... no wonder she's having a Section.

Sorry, nothing constructive as yet.... I'm sure the ideas will coming flooding though.

I sent friends a lovely fleecy blanket from a NZ website when they had a baby there earlier this year. It was, I'm told, super soft. I think I found the site through Google . It was really easy and they offered free delivery to NZ - much easier than buying something and posting it although you don't get to feel what you're buying IYSWIM.

Any sort of pamper kit would be nice for the mum.

Good ideas! Any specific c-section recovery helpers that anyone can reccommend?

i had a c section and there isn't really anything too specific to use (don't need creams or anything). i would have used lovely bubble baths or scented candles.

Once your stitches come out, then anything with calendula in it is meant to help the healing. Tea tree oil too. I just bathed in Savlon! I smelled very....fresh

The only thing I really remember appreciating was getting helped up out of chairs and up stairs for the first week - but you can't really post that!

I did really love my breastfeeding pillow to take the weight (only 8.5 lbs) of ds. I got a bean bag type one from Tchibo, but I don't think they deliver. There are loads of other companies that do them. A year on I still use it - great for a sore back too.

The Baby Catalogue ship worldwide and they stock a huge range of "Boppy" cushions for feeding and propping up baby. They're not just for breastfeeding, she'll need to get comfy with baby if she decides to formula feed too. There are 2 pages of "Boppies" that do other things too and one comes with change bag. I wish I'd seen them a year ago

Sorry - try this

I think a grobag (baby sleeping bag) is the best gift if she doesn't have one. Her baby is likely to be born big enough to go straight into one too.
I had a c-section and certainly didn't need anything special. Just the same stuff as anyone else. I also liked silly luxurious stuff for the baby - eg cashmere hat & socks etc. The White Company does great mail order stuff in fancy packaging - I think it's www.thewhiteco.co.uk - but don't know if they ship to NZ.

How about arnica tablets? Apparently they're supposed to be really good for healing. Also lavender massage oil, it's relaxing and after the cs stitches have gone, it can help prevent bad scarring.

I think arnica tablets might be a great recommendation for your friend, but I think if I'd opened a present all the way from the UK and found arnica tablets I might have cried! Maybe if the tablets were wrapped with cashmere baby booties and yummy Sephora bubble bath I'd be cheerier!
(Not having a go Wobblymum, honest, but I could just picture the woman's face...if she's as materialistic and shallow as me, that is...)
