Cribs - swinging, rocking or gliding??

Which would most recommend?

I thought of static but DS needed rocking sometimes when he was a baby (he used a moses basket which we took up and downstairs - not really practical when I'll have him (3.5) and the baby to get downstairs and ready for school run every day, so moses basket will stay downstairs this time for me to put the baby in quickly to get DS ready) so I'd like the option of motion just in case.

Thing is, I don't know which movement is best really.
A rocking one can't be stopped unless you put blocks under one end.
I'm not keen on the idea of the swinging ones as I'd worry that the baby would roll into the side (DS could roll onto his side from birth) and get stuck.
I don't really know what the "gliding" is like, I've never seen one in action!

So can someone please tell me their experiences to help me make a choice? I have 7 months to decide but it's the only thing I'm buying for this baby Sad and I love baby shopping Grin

We had a rocking crib that could be locked on static. Tried the rocking once, baby got hysterical, only used it on static afterwords and it was fine.
But I read somewhere that you should rock your baby from their back to front as apparently that is how they were rocked in your bump. I think those are the "gliding" ones. However I didn't know this in the "rocking" period and again, rocking sideways in my arms was fine.
I personally would get a static crib and rock the baby myself if needed.
