I'm assuming you can buy cushions for it?

Does it fold up at all?

Hmmmm it does look nice though....

No it doesn't fold up but it will tuck up to or under the table unlike many high chairs. You can get cushions for seat and back (we still use them although dd is 4!). Tchibo do something very similar for about £30 here

startingtobehalloweenylover · 20/10/2005 20:43

i think it looks really small... if you had a fat baby you'd struggle to get it in there!

maybe i am just jealous because i have no room for one that doesn't fold!

We have one and love it. DD started using it at 5 months - with baby kit and cushions. Wuickly discarded cushions as they just needed washing all time. The wood is so much easier to clean. We got rid of the baby kit before she was 18 months. DD is now 3y6m and uses hers as a chair. It doesn't fold but does fit nicely under our table.

I love it - the whole social aspect of eating at the table together, rather than being isolated to one side.

Also like the look of the chair. As our dining room has always been in same room as sitting are, the look is important to us.

Lockets, I like your halloween name. For us the tripp trapp chair is like a gym membership - of course you have one, you just never use it, and the kids carrying on having terrible posture while playing computer games

philippat · 20/10/2005 21:20

we've definitely got our money's worth (well, my mum bought it ) out of ours, dd still using it at 4, uses it for drawing etc at the table as well as eating. She's always been a wriggler but the trip trap has actually been good for that - we took the rail off fairly early and she was able to get down/crawl up at her own speed.

popsycal · 20/10/2005 21:21

get the tchibo one...less than 30 quid

Hulababy · 20/10/2005 21:22

Oh yes, DD uses hers at the computer desk too - prefect height. And for doing art stuff at table. And it all wipes clean

charleypops · 20/10/2005 21:43

I;m thinking of getting one too but I'd like a tray for the early days - anyone know which one fits?

jennifersofia · 21/10/2005 14:37

Yes, definitely worth it. Ours has seen 5 yrs use and 2 children and still looks great, can easily be used by toddler or child. Wouldn't bother buying cushions because of yuck factor. Babies have lots of cushioning!

moondog · 21/10/2005 14:42

They are nice (ours is going strong 5 years later) but,as I have said many times, neither can you beat the £20 Antelop from IKEA which looks nice,is very simple and best of all dead easy to clean.

pinkmama · 21/10/2005 14:45

Another yes, we have 2. DD1s is 7 years old and she has agreed to relinquish it for dd2. No way as she giving it up for ds! I like the fact that although they are pricey, they go on for years rather than just being a highchair for babies. OUr table is quite high so its great for using just as a higher chair. I sit on it quite a bit as find it rather comfy. Imagine they will go on for years. Only criticism is both kids ended up with some fairly consistent bruising on the shins from getting them in and out of it when the bar was on.

bonym · 21/10/2005 14:49

I looked at the Tripp Trapp but decided against it as I wanted a tray to start off with. I ended up buying the Kuster which is a similar concept but has a very easily removable tray and also folds up quite slim. I love it!

teeavee · 21/10/2005 15:00

i would much rather buy a cheap and cheerful high chair and a nicer high stool for myself - would still be cheaper I reckon

GhostofNatt · 21/10/2005 15:05

I found it was incredibly popular with babies because of the very upright position and the fact they feel in the middle of things. We have one serially used by two boys and still used as a toddler chair. It looks nice, it ain't very bulky. I think they're great.

piffle · 21/10/2005 15:21

unequivocally yes, we take ours down with the allen key when we go to grandmas or even out to dinner...

bonym · 21/10/2005 15:29

Ah - but if you got a Kuster you wouldn't have to fiddle with an allen key - just fold it up and sling it in the boot!

(Do you get the impression I love my Kuster? )

intergalacticwalrus · 21/10/2005 15:33

I wish I had bought a Tripp Trapp. I hate the piece of plastic shite my mother bought us. It was from Mammas and Pappas, and from what I remember, it cost more than a tripp trapp. Also, I hate scooping the bits of rank banana from underneath the seat insert, which happens on a regular basis with mine

teeavee · 21/10/2005 15:34

Kuster's last stand...

GhostofNatt · 21/10/2005 15:36

I truly think the tripp trapp is one of the very few bits of trendy baby gear which is actually a great piece of design and a massive improvement on the other stuff on the market, so there (and i think the stokke cot is quite crap and their stroller looks like a piece of hsopital equipment, so not a stokke employee on the sly)

Stilltrue · 21/10/2005 16:50

I have an 11y old Tripp Trapp on its 4th child and still going strong! Initially I prefer my little ones in a chair with a big tray, but now that ds3 is 21m and slooowly becoming more civilised, he now uses the TT and definitely prefers it. In between being used as a baby's highchair mine has been a homework chair at a desk, somewhere to perch generally, and very useful indeed. Oh and easy to clean. I never bought the cushion; mine use/d it once past the tiny baby stage.

Bagpuss30 · 21/10/2005 17:12

Pleased to read this thread as we are planning on getting one soon for ds2. The other two children had an M&P one which I hate with a passion (for much the same reasons as intergalacticwalrus stated).

OldieMum · 21/10/2005 17:17

We used a plastic high-chair with removable tray when DD was a baby, because I wanted a chair with lots of padding and liked the idea of a removable tray. It worked very well and we used it without the tray until a couple of months ago, when DD was 2.8. Now she has a Tripp Trapp. She likes it very much, as it's a perfect height for her and is easy to climb into. It also looks good. I like the fact that we'll be able to lower it as she grows and I anticipate using it for years. Having said that, I still think that the padded plastic chair was better when she was a baby.
