Jane Energy (or similar) - opinions please

Thinking about getting a Jane Energy as I could do with a buggy. Ideally I want something lightweight and easy to manoevre but with plenty of padding. Although I don't need it to go trekking or anything, I sometimes need to push it over grass down a short footpath, so need it to cope with that. I could do with a shopping basket and two handles (to hang shopping from).

I don't necessarily need a from birth buggy because I already have an Emmaljunga Husky as my from birth pushchair, but I'd like something that doesn;t take up the whole boot when we go away for the weekend or when I go shopping!

I'd be grateful for any opinions on the Jane Energy - or any other recommendations (or de-recommendations!)

Hi..I had a Jane 360 Powertrack and was so impressed that I bought the Energy (there are 2, I think, the Rocket, slightly cheaper and the Energy) I paid about £120 probably 14 months ago. I keep it in the car as a shopping one. Pros are it is very lightweight, has 2 good foam handles, and lies flat, and is also quite high off the ground. We took it to the States when DD was 8 months old and it was great for naps. One downside is that I had to shorten my stride slightly (I'm 5'6) so I didn't bang into the wheels. Husband, who is 5'11 has no problems! Also, in lie flat, you cant access the shopping basket. Now I'm very used to it. It was either that or the MacClaren Techno XT for me, but I heard too many negative things about the brakes failing on the Mc. Will be fine over grass...we take it to Richmond Park. Hope this helps. By the way, I have never seen another, so you may find you get no other responses!!

I love my maclaren techno!! It's very light, easy to push, very comfy for dd & folds up very small. The basket is quite small, but this is true of most lightweight strollers. You can hang a couple of bags on the handles though . I'm only 5ft 4in but have tried a couple of other buggies & found I kept kicking the back wheels - very irritating. Never had this problem with the techno & neither has DH who is 6ft 2in! I have the old version (still going strong after 3.5 yrs)which has the awkward brakes (hard to apply), but the current version has re-designed brakes.

I've just bought one seond hand and I quite like it, similar opinions to louloubelle. I do find the shopping basket harder to access even when the seat is up but it's very sturdy and holds a lot (in comparison to my last pushchair). The raincover 'sits' on the pushchair nicely but it doesn't fold up particulary small.

We live in an unmade road and it's very good on that surface. I It's easy to fold and the hood folds with it, it does fit in my focus boot but at a slight angle. I also like the fact that it's fairly uncommon.
