Saab - don't!

I won't go into all the details, its too long and boring and most people wouldn't believe it, but briefly we have bought 2 brand new Saabs (95 Vectors) from dealerships in the last 8 years, we've looked after them well, we've had them serviced by Saab, and we're now facing yet another £2000 bill for repairs (fuel injectors) Saab have made several errors (which they've admitted) but will not compensate us or help in any way. Local dealerships fob us off, and HQ in Swededn and the UK PR department won't reply to my emails. We can't afford to buy a new car (again) we can barely afford the repairs. But just a caution to anyone trying to decide on a Saab or another car - go for the other one!
If anyone else has experienced similar, I've started a facebook page here you'll get plenty of sympathy.
I really want to cause as much fuss as I can help other people avoid what we've been through!!

Sorry to hear that Jenpet. to give another perspective, i've been driving them for years and never had a problem. am alive today because i was driving a Saab when i had a head on collision with a drunk driver on the wrong side of the road. Don't intend to ever drive anything else!

I know hermioneweasley, that's why we bought our first one...they have a brilliant safety record, and I'm pleased you're here to tell the tale! Smile
Doing a bit of research, it appears lots of the mechanical problems started when the original Saab company was taken over by General Motors in 2000 (now part of Stryker cars since 2010) Certainly the lack of any customer service (worldwide) seems to have spiralled out of control during that GM period....

We're now too scared to use our car, and I use DH'S company truck if I need to go anywhere. We've just had a statement from Saab to say they're not interested in any of our problems, we should expect "wear & tear". I am AngryAngry to say the least....

I think you need to explain more, wear and tear is expected and there aren't many manufacturers who will stump up for repairs outside of the warranty. Having a car serviced doesn't stop parts failing. My Saab 95 is 12yrs old, 120,000 miles, it's not been problem free, but few cars are. Your Facebook page is just a rant against Saab, but gives no real information.

Saab admittedly don't have the best customer service, but the best bet is to use an independent specialist for servicing, once it's out of warranty. I'd be tempted to get one have a look at your Saab, your injectors might just need cleaning. Surprised at the big bill, the best dogs dangly bits injectors only come to £500, £1500 is a lot of expensive man hours even by Saab standards.

There's a good Saab forum here......

Send them a letter by recorded delivery ..... Some companies won't accept emails as proper means of complaint. Stupid yeah, but worth a shot. And make sure you address it to someone, even the operations director, get a name.

We've got a '98 900S and it's fabulous. Now if you'd mentioned Renault ...
