I've had my little Aygo for less than 8 months and it recently developed what seemed like problems with the clutch. It was only then that I found out (by going on the Toyota Owner's Club forum) that there is an known fault with the clutch and that Toyota has had to replace many of them.
This was done although Toyota and before I drove off, I did check with the dealer that the clutch replacement would have addressed all the issues - loss of power, car reluctant to move forward, burning smell, etc. A few days later and the problems reapered, with the car almost refusing to move in first or secod gear. So I took it back to the garage this morning and guess what? It's the caliper that needs replacing. Apparently, they didn't pick up on that at all when servicing the car last week just as they didn't pick up on the fact that that issue had caused considerable damage to the brake discs and pads. How on earth could they not have noticed when they went out of their way to tell me only a few days ago that my break pads were 70% worn? Not only that but while I don't have a problem with paying for new pads (I'd need to get them done soon anyway), I find it outrageous their suggestion that the caliper may not be covered by the warranty and that it's unlikely that it'll cover the discs or pads. The discs were damaged by the faulty caliper! And how can all of this happen under warranty, 8 months into me owning the car and the vehicle being just over 3 years old?!?! Is it just me that thinks that for all Toyota marketing campaign, ultimately they have no shame and have not learnt their lesson?!?! To add insult to injury, they didn't offer me any alternative replacement for my vehicle, not even the option for me to 'hire' a loan car while mine is in the garage. Thank goodness it's 1/2 term and ds is with the grandparents so I just (?!?!) need to get a lift back home somehow.
Has anyone had previous experiences or advice on how I should approach this, please?
