wod burning/multifuel stove recomendations

I am about to buy one.Anyting to lok out for or avoid?
Any recomendations for make/model?

Jasper, we have the Charnwood Island II (I think, and we like it! It has a fairly plain appearance, not to "Victorian" IYKWIM. It belts out heat, and is pretty easy to use (can burn coal as well, but we haven't run out of old roof joists yet!). The only thing I would say about it is that it's not quite as "clean burn" as we expected...the glass does get a big dingy, but it is now routine to give the glass a clean as we are laying the fire, and it's not too much hassle.

Did they install it and did you receive god service from them?

Yes, Gibson Gould is the one! They installed it, and service was fine, no problem with them at all! Whatever you do, don't go to Gibson Wight (apparently no connection)- they have a few stoves, and had one very cheap, but said that they couldn't install it, and couldn't recommend anyone who could- what a loads of bollox! They installed our Rayburn, and their service is appalling.

Yes had apalling service from them too including a kitchen installation which went wrong all the way.

Make sure to get one appropriately sized for your room - there's plenty of calculators around for this

Also make sure that there is either a soot door installed in the chimney or the chimney is accessible via the flue at the back of the stove.

Ours was installed by the previous owner and he did neither, thankfully it's been ok but it means we have to be extra careful about using it in case it becomes blocked with soot in which case we'd need to have it removed and refitted.

we have a villager and its great

We bought a Clearview last winter. They are not the cheapest, but they are amazingly controllable and keep the window clear. We have previously used a Villager and find the Clearview a hundred times better. Also, if you speak to a few installers, you'll probably find they have Clearview in their own homes.
