Epilators. DD wants you to recommend one for someone who has never waxed or shaved.

DD only uses veet or occasional silky mit. I have an epilator but it is old & she refuses to try it. She would like recommendations from someone who has used one without too much pain, & whose skin hasn't been hardened to pain by waxing.

Can anyone help? Thanks

I seriously get no pain from mine now - but have used it for years. I looked at the new "Starter" packs, ice packs etc, but she would like to know if anyone has used them, and HOW painful was it?

I used one years ago. It was very sore! And I did childbirth without pain relief

Find waxing easier pain-wise, but that's because it's all out in a flash, an epilator prolongs it somehow!

This was an elderly model by today's standards though, so may be different with ice packs, etc.

I use the braun silk epil (I think). It does hurt to start with, but the re-growth is now so thin and soft anyway that epilating takes about five minutes and doesn't hurt as much as it did initially.
However remember to always exfoliate before, otherwise you end up with in grown hairs...

I've got this one

I wouldn't say it hurt exactly - just a bit uncomfortable IYSWIM.

PB, read that as Philips Satanic...!

Apologies for hi-jacking, but would you let a ten year old use immac, nair or veet? I have a very hairylegged dd, and she is getting teased about it so I would like to help if I can. We tried my cold wax strips but she said it caned and so won't consider waxing again? Any advice would be really appreciated!

Oh yes. I thought not but all her friends were using bic razors in yr 6 so I was happy to buy the veet & put up with the smell. She started in Yr6 & is now yr10 & never been near a razor (apart for underarms) so her hairs are still very fine. I didn't want to let her but the boys were calling her names.

One friends child nicked herself badly with a razor & got infected! Was not allowed to use creams on that area so ended up more hairy.

If she's very hairy and getting teased then yes, I'd let her use Immac. Just make sure she tests it first.
