Junior Car Seat, with Isofix and Harness

We're struggling to find a car seat with:

  • Isofix *and a harness (as opposed to being seat belt reliant)

for DD who's:

  • 2 years, 8 months
  • just over 15kg
  • tall!

We currently have a Britax Duo seat, but her head is right over the top of it now, so we need to find something quickly.,

The problem is that we really like Isofix as we move the seat between several vehicles.

She's too young to be held in by a seat belt, as opposed to a harness, as she'll fiddle with it.

Does anyone know if such a seat exists, please?

Thanks! :)

Thats a tricky one. We bought a duo when our dd2 grew out of her tobi seat as it was the tallest I could find. I have since found this
two way elite but it is not cheap and is not issofix
it can take a child up to 25kg forward facing.

Another option is montecarlo plus it is issofix but may be more suitable with the impact shield.

or this Cybex Pallas-fix but it might be heavy.

If you have another younger child I would get the elite even though it's not issofix then get the britax kidfix as it is solid and well made and seams to be really comfortable.

Just to say looked at the elvolva when we were looking and as your child is out of the duo they would probably out of the harness because of her height.

Hi everyone,

Thanks very much for your excellent and detailed advice. :)

I'd not seen a seat with an impact cushion. That looks like a good (the only?!) compromise. I wonder how comfortable they are. I'll have a good look at those. Thank you for the suggestion.

Loopymumsy, half her head, up to her eye level is above the seat, so we need to change the seat now. Over the past two weeks she's shot up.

Thanks again, everyone. I really appreciate your advice.

Does anyone out there have experience of a seat with an impact cushion, please?

Thanks! :)

I've heard these people are very good. I'm sure I read somewhere that they don't even mind if you don't buy from them. There is a thread in Car Seats too which might be helpful.

here's a link to that thread.

Thank very much for your really informative comments and links, everyone.

We've tried all sorts of seats in a number of shops now, but DD's too big for the seats with the harnesses to 18kg and is too much of a wriggler for a seatbelt. Every time we put her in one, she pulled it over her head. So, we've been advised to go for a special needs seat.

We have an appointment at the In Car Safety Centre in Milton Keynes in the morning, who have recommended a couple of special needs seats for us, and are going to try her in a few. It'll be pricey, I think Confused, but we don't seem to have much of an alternative.

Fingers crossed that we find something suitable!

Thanks again.

Does anyone know the more subtle difference between a HBB and a booster seat?

My 3 1/2 yo is ready to go into a HBB and about to make a substantial purchase including isofix, given that it would be value for money if she is staying in it for 8 years (!?!!), but will I find that I need to buy a booster seat for her in a few years because she will refuse to sit in a HBB.

Can't seem to find any information on the net telling me why I'd spend over £100 when a booster seat will cost only about £5

Would be interested in anyones ideas

Thanks
