DD is 6 (nearly 7) and I don't think she would like this (sorry). But then again she doesn't seem interested in money (give her time, she soon will be I bet!).

twinsetandpearls · 15/10/2005 22:17

My dd would love it as she is obsessed with cash machines, but she is only 4, not sure if 6 may be a bit old.

misdee · 15/10/2005 22:18

my 3yr old would love it.

soapbox · 15/10/2005 22:18

God mine are obsessed with it - mind you they do have 2 accountants for parents

Thanks for being honest though

It works like an ATM and gives you a running total of how much you have in it.

You need to type in how much you are depositing and withdrawing though so would need some idea of money and coinage!

my 6 and 8yr old would love it .good idea for xmas for them thankyou

auntymandy · 15/10/2005 23:35

I dont think its very fun..sorry.

NannyL · 15/10/2005 23:44

I think lots of 6 year olds (and younger) would LOVE it, while others may not be so enthusiastic.

I think it depnds on the child TBH! (i would have LOVED one as a child!)

Tinker · 15/10/2005 23:48

Oh, my 8 year old would love it! Obsessed with how much money she has in her piggy bank.

You're still on your 3 for 2 xmas shopping bargain hunt aren't you sb?

ghosty · 16/10/2005 01:57

Depends on the child I suppose ...
My DS would really like it ... but not as his MAIN present ... I think he would use it too.
I wish we had M&S here

soapbox · 16/10/2005 10:13

Mmmmm - still about half and half.

Its not for my DCs at 3 for 2 they'd be £10 each which what I spend on birthday presents for the DCs friend.

I thought it may be better than the usual plastic crap that they get!

I've always given books in the past but the children are saying that these are too boring now

Friends - makes them sound like billy one mate!!!

I think they're a great present for the right child IYKWIM (echoing what the others have said, really).

I bought a job lot of the Phoenix colour in posters (4 in a set, come in a big tube for £5) - with a nice set of pens, these have gone down fantastically well for both 5 and 7 year olds - even the boys !

codface · 16/10/2005 14:10

we have one
thery are quite hard to work
a dn ds1 broke his

codface · 16/10/2005 14:10

its really too hard for a 6 year old

PeachyClairPumpkinPie · 16/10/2005 15:30

DS1 (5) would worship this!! He's not getting it- he would get obsessive- but I think that some kids would love it to bits.

PeachyClairPumpkinPie · 16/10/2005 15:31

(though frankly I am told that only Dr Who will do this year)

TinyGang · 16/10/2005 16:15

Depends on the child I guess.

Seems expensive to me for a money box. Mine would just want to play with it like a toy, or get frustrated because it's not really a toy and a bit hard to use.

codface · 16/10/2005 19:47

soapy

soapbox · 16/10/2005 19:52

Okay - won't get it!

I'm just sick of sending the DCs off to parties with a pile of crap for the birthday child.

Will try to think of something else!

Do they do children's comics subscriptions??

That would be a nice idea wouldn't it??

mandieb2004 · 16/10/2005 20:46

Like the comic idea

MrsSpoon · 16/10/2005 21:00

Soapbox, my DS1 (aged 6), moaned and moaned at me to buy this when my Mum sent some money. I didn't want him to have it, for a couple of reasons, felt it was a gimmick and he would be fed up of it, especially if he couldn't get it to work properly, he would also probably just press the buttons continuously which would no doubt make a noise and wear down the batteries (fed up of toys that need new batteries), also he had just spent almost £10 on a new money box a couple of weeks previous.

Don't know if not buying it was the right thing to do, it certainly had appeal for my 6 year old, he went on and on about it but I wasn't fussed as a Mum.
