What pushchair to buy?

newmumhelp · 12/10/2005 19:55

I am looking for a lightweight pushchair for ds. He is only 3 1/2 months so i want something quite sturdy for under £100. I was looking at the Mamas & Papas Aria pushchair but the accessories are really expensive. Have checked the products on here that have been reviewed but still find myself confused. Can anyone recommend any?

ligthweight small? let me go look at the aria and see if i can find anything similar.

LilacBump · 12/10/2005 19:58

chicco xs maybe?

LadyTophamHatt · 12/10/2005 19:59

Lots of people will recommend Maclaren. Personally I wasn't inpressed.

The aria always seemed abit rickety to me when I've tried them.

bran · 12/10/2005 19:59

Is this in addition to one that you already have, or will it be your main pushchair? What will you normally being doing with it (eg walking long distance, taking it in the car, going over rough ground)?

misdee · 12/10/2005 20:00

does it need to fit in a smal lcar boot?

FrightfullyPoshFloss · 12/10/2005 20:00

I had a thread like this a few months ago. I ended up with a chicco ponee xs, I think they are being discontinued now, so dirt cheap. Got mine off ebay. Someone (sorry can't remember your name!) said that the Aria can be difficult to maneouvure (sp), but have to say every time I see one, I feel a pang and wish I'd brought that one!

bran · 12/10/2005 20:00

Also do you have any special requirements, like tall handle, single/two handles, big basket?

startingtobehalloweenylover · 12/10/2005 20:01

chicco ponee?

on offer there

misdee · 12/10/2005 20:01

we are overwhealming the poor girl bran!!

LilacBump · 12/10/2005 20:02

frightfully, i was thinking of buying the chicco ponee xs, is it not that good then?

vickiyumyum · 12/10/2005 20:02

how about a mams and papas pulse, like the maclaren techno but cheaper and the footmuff is about £30 as opposed to m&ps usual £50. comes with a raincover and a big hood so suitable as use as sun canopy

startingtobehalloweenylover · 12/10/2005 20:02

or \link[http://www.glasgowpramcentre.co.uk/shop/product.php?product_id=1161&choice_ids%5B10%5D=530#\this graco one?}

bran · 12/10/2005 20:02

misdee, she did ask. She just thought it was a simple question, and she was wrong.

ixel · 12/10/2005 20:03

Mothercare Citilite is very compact and lightwieght, and 90 quid. I'd prob have bought one, except I'm now in the realm of double buggies!!

vickiyumyum · 12/10/2005 20:03

or how about looking in the argos catalogue, they have the aria, with footmuff and changing bag (think raincover as well) in city scape (black denim) for £99!!!!

newmumhelp · 12/10/2005 20:03

Well, have a focus at the mo, but am looking at getting a fiesta or corsa so believe the boot won't be massive. No particular requirements. We have a Graco Quattro at the mo, but its too heavy for me, and i don't think it will fit in the boot of my new car.

I tend to go shopping alot with ds so big basket would be a good thing

i was just checking kiddicare for a good deal and they have the volo for 25 quid!! tell me i dont need one (i'd need to order 50pounds of other stuff as well to get it at the price)

vickiyumyum · 12/10/2005 20:05

link for argos aria unavailiable for home delivery at the moment according to the website but they have them in my local store to take away so maybe they do in your store too.

bran · 12/10/2005 20:08

Misdee, you don't need the Volo. I have one, but I've put it away until ds is older as it's not a position to sleep in, the back support is generally not very good. When he's too big for the Citilite I'll go back to the Volo. Also, it doesn't come with a hood or rain cover and they're fairly expensive to buy.

bran · 12/10/2005 20:09

That should be not a good position.

misdee · 12/10/2005 20:11

i know lol. i dont need one, i have the quinney zapp. and i dont need anything off kiddicare anyway.

bran · 12/10/2005 20:12

newmumhelp the Citilite fold down quite small and is very, very light, and has a good size basket. It doesn't have a solid feel (I suppose because it's so light), but the handling is reasonable. I use it as my buggy for the car, if I'm on foot from home I use a 3-wheeler because I can get a longer stride and a smoother ride with that.

vickiyumyum · 12/10/2005 20:13

misdee - don't buy the volo!!!!!! the quinny is better than the volo as has the accessories as well, perhaps we should all start a buggyaholics anon group!

misdee · 12/10/2005 20:15

i wont buy it, dont need it. and its an unwritten rule i can onyl have 3 buggies/prams at one time and have my p and t, zapp and big pram.

i'd say the citilight or similar.

newmumhelp · 12/10/2005 20:15

Thanks all for your help. I'm very impressed that you could all help me out so quickly. Anyway, feel i'm getting a bit obsessed and have to go and bath ds (which by the way i should of done 15 minutes ago )

Think the Chicco or Citilite are worth a shot.

Cheers
